Job summary

GE Vernova in India seeks a Lead Design & Development engineer for LV/MV drive systems, encompassing sizing, simulation, testing and validation, including certification for VSD/VFD products.

Requires 10+ years in power electronics for industrial drives, deep knowledge of motor and drive control systems, and hands-on AutoCAD/E-Plan and MATLAB/Simulink experience. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master Degree in Power Electronics or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 10+ years of Power electronics design & testing expertise for Industrial drives.
• Experience with Electrical design / Simulation tools like AutoCAD, E-Plan and MATLAB/Simulink.

Responsibilities

• Lead LV/MV drive engineering and core power electronics activities.
• Size drives and filters to meet project specs and reliability targets.
• Design hardware, perform loss budgets, earth & protection analyses, and arc-flash calculations.
• Validate designs using calculations, modeling and simulations; verify prototype performance.
• Prepare and validate design documents: configurations, operation principles, BOM, SLD and drawings.
• Support manufacturing at factory/vendor facilities and assist in FATs.
• Coordinate with System Engineer and PM to ensure timely execution.

Job description

Job Description Summary Lead Design & Development, Sizing, Simulation, Testing & Validation, Certification of LV/MV - VSD/ VFD’s.

Roles and Responsibilities

• LV/MV Drive Engineering – Core Power Electronics (AC/ DC systems)
• Drive & Filter Sizing
• Product hardware design / loss budget calculation / Earth & Protection circuits /Arc Flash Calculation/ RCA
• Understand product / project specifications and realize requirements to design using calculations, modeling and simulations
• Design system/equipment to meet reliability, testing standards, manufacturability, material and cost guidelines
• Prepare & validate Design documents - Configurations, principles of operation, application guidelines, specifications, BOM, SLD & drawings as per requirement
• Verify functional performance of prototype hardware under all specified operating conditions
• Support Manufacturing of equipment at Factory / Vendor facility
• Document functional test requirements and conduct test according to applicable standards (UL/IEC etc.…) /conduct project FAT’s
• Coordinate with System Engineer and Program / Product / Project manager execution on a continuous basis
• May require travel as required

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master Degree in Power Electronics or Electrical Engineering or Equivalent
• Min. 10+ years of Power electronics design & testing expertise for Industrial drives
• Preferred experience/knowledge in Electrical design / Simulation tools like AUTOCAD / E-Plan and MATLAB/Simulink
• In-depth knowledge of Motors /Drive control Systems.
