Job summary

Mastercard is seeking a Lead Platform Architect (Linux, Virtualisation, VMware) to design and oversee platform infrastructure solutions. The role requires deep expertise in Linux, virtualization technologies, and VMware, with responsibility for high availability, security, and performance in a demanding environment.

You will collaborate with Delivery, Engineering and Operations to align roadmaps and ensure compliant, scalable designs across platforms.

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of Linux OS (Oracle Linux / RHEL).
• Deep knowledge of Virtualisation (OVM, KVM, OLVM).
• Deep knowledge of VMware (ESX).
• Significant experience delivering complex technical designs and architectures.
• Ability to present complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Flexibility to adopt new products, services and ways of working.
• Understanding of non-functional requirements such as performance and availability.

Overview

The Systems and Platform Architecture team is looking for a Lead Solutions Architect to design and provide oversight for VocaLink solutions through all stages of the development life cycle from bid, concept through architecture, design, build, test and delivery into production.

Role

Typically, the role will require the holder to:

• Produce High Level Designs for Platform infrastructure solutions.
• Maintain the technology roadmap for Platform / Unix Solutions in line with end of support dates.
• Work closely with cross functional teams including Delivery, Engineering and Operations.
• Ensure that new solutions conform to policies and standards and meet defined non-functional requirements for performance, scalability, availability, security and manageability.
• Identify, assess and communicate technical risks to the Business and Operations.
• Evaluate products for project and future usage and take responsibility for trialling new technologies.

All About You

Essential:

• Indepth knowledge of Linux Operating Systems (Oracle Linux / RHEL)
• Indepth knowledge of Virtualisation Technologies ( OVM, KVM, OLVM)
• Indepth knowledge of VMWare (ESX)
• Significant experience in a demanding, high availability environment
• Proven experience of delivering complex technical designs and architectures
• Ability to present complex technical information to both a technical and non-technical audience.
• Flexibility to take on new products, services, strategies and ways of working.
• A clear understanding of how non-functional requirements such as performance and availability are delivered by a technology solution.
