Job description

As the Lead Mobile Engineer (Android Native), you will own the architecture, development, and deployment of Pi42's Android applications. You'll lead by example, writing clean, efficient, and scalable native code, mentoring engineers, and ensuring a smooth, high-performance mobile experience across all touchpoints. This is a hands‑on leadership role ideal for someone who has built and scaled Android apps from scratch, preferably within fast‑moving startup environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end development of Pi42's native Android applications.
• Architect and implement scalable, maintainable, and testable codebases using Clean Architecture (MVP / MVVM / MVI).
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Backend teams to deliver smooth and high‑performance mobile experiences.
• Champion best coding practices, CI/CD integration, and app performance optimization.
• Mentor and upskill junior developers, helping build a high‑performing mobile team.
• Stay on top of the latest Android frameworks, libraries, and performance trends to keep Pi42's stack cutting‑edge.

Requirements

• 6-8 years of hands‑on experience in native Android development, with at least 2 years in a lead/senior role.
• Proven success in building and scaling mobile apps from early stages (preferably in startups).
• Strong understanding of performance optimization, security, and memory management in Android apps.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills.

Languages

• Java / Kotlin Expert level.
• JavaScript Intermediate level.

Technologies and Frameworks
