  • Lead troubleshooting and structured problem-solving for medical equipment manufacturing and testing.
  • Conduct root cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • Own process qualification and validation of manufacturing processes and testing equipment.
  • Lead process risk assessments and drive DPU reduction and productivity improvements.
  • Champion Lean, automation, digital transformation, AI/ML, IoT, and plant modernization with AME teams.
  • Utilize Power BI and data analytics for equipment performance monitoring and reporting.
  • Support data collection and predictive maintenance initiatives using sensor data.
  • Collaborate on equipment upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage engineering change requests and implement changes on the floor with proper documentation.

Job Description Summary

The Lead Manufacturing Process Engineer - AME & Testing will provide technical leadership for process engineering, New Product Introduction (NPI), manufacturing test equipment, and automation supporting complex medical equipment. This role will lead and support the development, implementation, qualification, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and test equipment, with a strong focus on test equipment automation, Special Purpose Machines (SPMs), electromechanical systems, troubleshooting, failure analysis, and operational performance. The engineer will also leverage technologies such as Power BI, AI/ML tools, IoT platforms, advanced analytics, and equipment data to improve testing effectiveness, enable predictive maintenance, and enhance manufacturing efficiency.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Own and lead manufacturing engineering activities for New Product Introductions (NPI) and manufacturing transfers for existing products, collaborating with global and local cross-functional teams including Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain.
  • Lead and support process engineering activities associated with new product introductions, manufacturing readiness, production ramp-up, and implementation of new manufacturing and testing technologies.
  • Design, develop, improve, and support manufacturing automation systems, test equipment, Special Purpose Machines (SPMs), fixtures, tooling, and manufacturing aids to enable efficient and reliable production.
  • Support the transition from legacy testing systems to new testing platforms, software, automation tools, and testing infrastructure.
  • Develop and support automated test equipment involving electromechanical components and control systems, including servo motors, encoders, ball screws, sensors, electrical and electronic circuits, and related machine control technologies.
  • Apply knowledge of NI hardware programming and equipment control systems to support automated equipment functions such as motor control, operational sequencing, equipment run-time management, sensor integration, data capture, and automated machine operations.
  • Lead troubleshooting and structured problem-solving activities to resolve complex medical equipment manufacturing and testing issues.
  • Conduct root cause investigations and failure analysis to identify technical issues related to equipment, manufacturing processes, test systems, and product performance, and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Own process qualification and validation of manufacturing processes, assembly-line tools, automation systems, and testing equipment to ensure robust and compliant manufacturing operations.
  • Lead process risk assessments and drive factory, forward production, and field quality improvements through structured problem-solving, failure analysis, and Defects Per Unit (DPU) reduction initiatives.
  • Champion Lean Manufacturing, automation, digital transformation, AI/ML, IoT, advanced analytics, and plant modernization initiatives in collaboration with central Advanced Manufacturing Engineering teams to improve operational excellence and productivity.
  • Utilize Power BI and other appropriate data visualization and analytics tools to support equipment performance monitoring, manufacturing reporting, data analysis, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Support the collection and analysis of manufacturing and equipment data to identify trends, understand equipment behavior, improve testing processes, and identify opportunities for productivity and quality improvement.
  • Support the development and implementation of predictive maintenance approaches using equipment, sensor, and performance data to identify potential failures and enable a transition from reactive to data-driven maintenance strategies.
  • Evaluate opportunities to apply AI/ML and advanced analytics to manufacturing and testing processes where these technologies can improve equipment performance, testing effectiveness, product quality, productivity, or engineering decision-making.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on equipment upgrades, new testing infrastructure, manufacturing technology implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage engineering change requests and lead the effective implementation of approved changes on the manufacturing floor, including appropriate documentation and process updates.
  • Support implementation and execution of Quality Management System (QMS) requirements on the manufacturing floor in accordance with applicable medical device regulations and internal quality requirements.
