Deerns India invites an accomplished Lead Industrial & Specialty Gases Engineer to join our team in Mumbai/Thane West. You will oversee design and delivery of bulk and specialty gas systems for Electronics/Semiconductor facilities, ensuring safe, compliant, high-performance solutions for global standards while adapting to local regulatory needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in mechanical, chemical, or process engineering.
  • 15+ years of experience in design and execution of industrial & semiconductor gas systems.
  • 10+ years of experience in semiconductor / high-purity / mission-critical facilities preferred.
  • Strong expertise in bulk gas systems, specialty gases, and high-purity gas distribution networks.
  • In-depth knowledge of hazardous gas handling, safety systems, and risk mitigation practices.
  • Experience with semiconductor fabs / high-tech manufacturing facilities preferred.
  • Familiarity with global semiconductor standards and Indian regulatory frameworks (PESO, safety codes).
  • Proficiency in engineering tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and P&ID development platforms.
  • Strong capability in design review, technical governance, and vendor coordination.
  • Excellent problem-solving, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary and international project teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and engineering of bulk, specialty, and high-purity gas systems for semiconductor facilities.
  • Develop system layouts and detailed designs for gas storage, distribution, and handling systems.
  • Prepare and review engineering deliverables including Design Basis Reports (DBR), PFDs, P&IDs, and gas flow calculations.
  • Design and validate high-purity gas distribution systems, including SS 316L piping, orbital welding, VMBs, VMPs, and gas cabinets.
  • Ensure system compliance with purity, pressure, flow, redundancy, and uptime requirements.
  • Lead engineering of specialty gases (silane, ammonia, chlorine, fluorinated gases) and bulk gases (N2, O2, Ar, H2).
  • Develop and implement gas safety systems, including gas detection, leak detection, and ESD systems.
  • Ensure safe design practices for toxic, flammable, and pyrophoric gases, including hazardous area classification.
  • Participate in HAZOP, SIL, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate safety risks.
  • Coordinate with cleanroom, process, mechanical, electrical, and HVAC teams for integrated system design.
  • Ensure seamless integration with tool hook-ups, exhaust systems, scrubbing, and abatement systems.
  • Review vendor designs, technical submittals, and equipment specifications for compliance and suitability.
  • Support technical bid evaluations, procurement activities, and vendor selection.
  • Ensure compliance with local statutory requirements and safety regulations (including PESO norms).
  • Provide technical support during construction, installation, commissioning, and system validation.
  • Review method statements and validate gas purity, leak integrity, and overall system performance.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across projects.

Job Overview

Deerns India is seeking a highly experienced Lead Industrial & Specialty Gases Engineer to support the design and delivery of Electronics/Semiconductor manufacturing facilities (OSAT/ATMP/FABS).

This role is focused on engineering design excellence, technical advisory, and independent design validation of Industrial Gas (IG) and Specialty Gas (SG) systems.

The position requires working across multidisciplinary teams and international stakeholders, ensuring that gas systems are designed to meet global semiconductor standards while being adapted to local regulatory requirements, site conditions, and operational needs.

Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all industrial and specialty gas systems. Ensure robust, compliant, safe, and high-performance design solutions that support semiconductor manufacturing processes. Bridge global best practices with local execution realities while providing independent technical assurance throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and engineering of bulk, specialty, and high-purity gas systems for semiconductor facilities.
