We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Associate Director, Software Engineering

Desktop Tooling, within Developer Platforms in CTO, is seeking a permanent Lead Engineer based in Pune. The role combines hands-on software engineering with technical leadership, delivery ownership and people development. The successful candidate will design and deliver secure, reliable tools that improve the developer experience, while leading engineers and coordinating multiple initiatives from discovery through production. They will act as a local technical SME, maintain clear and healthy delivery backlogs, engage stakeholders and vendors, and help the team deliver effectively across organisational boundaries. This role suits a strong engineer who remains close to the code while creating the clarity, technical direction and working environment that enables teams to succeed.

In this role, you will:

• Design and implement secure, maintainable solutions using appropriate architectural and design patterns.
• Remain hands-on with application development, code reviews, prototyping, troubleshooting and production support. Lead technical design and architecture decisions across frontend, backend, data and cloud services.
• Analyse requirements, challenge assumptions and recommend pragmatic improvements. Lead UI and developer-experience improvements that increase usability, accessibility and application stability.
• Act as technical and delivery lead across multiple concurrent initiatives. Translate objectives into well-defined Jira epics, stories, acceptance criteria and delivery milestones.
• Maintain a healthy, prioritised Kanban backlog with visible dependencies, risks, blockers and outcomes. Coordinate delivery across engineering, product, platform, security, operations and external teams.
• Lead, coach and develop engineers through feedback, mentoring, delegation and technical guidance. Set engineering standards for code quality, testing, security, observability and operational readiness.
• Manage delivery risks and communicate progress clearly under challenging deadlines. Improve CI/CD automation and cloud delivery lifecycles. Manage changes through the Service Management lifecycle, including UAT evidence, release planning and rollback.
• Work effectively with vendors, setting clear expectations and reviewing delivery quality. Provide responsive customer and stakeholder support while addressing underlying causes, not only symptoms. Promote responsible and effective use of AI-assisted engineering tools.

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

• At least seven years’ professional experience delivering and operating production applications. Demonstrable experience leading engineering teams and complex technical initiatives to successful outcomes.
• Experience acting as both technical lead and delivery lead while remaining hands-on. Experience managing, coaching and developing engineers. Strong stakeholder management across technical, product and senior leadership audiences. Proven ability to organise multiple workstreams in Jira using Kanban practices and measurable outcomes.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, C#, or a comparable language, including secure Web API development. Strong React experience building accessible, resilient and performant applications. Strong database design, SQL optimisation and performance-tuning skills.
• Production experience with GCP services such as GKE, Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, IAM and monitoring. Experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform. Strong CI/CD, automated testing, observability and production-support experience.
• Sound knowledge of security, authentication, authorization, secrets management and data protection. Experience working across organisational boundaries and with external vendors. Clear written and verbal communication, including explaining complex decisions and trade-offs. Strong judgement, organisation and calm execution under challenging deadlines.
• Desirable Requirements. Experience building developer platforms, desktop tooling or internal engineering products..
• Experience with AI-enabled applications, LLM APIs, evaluation, monitoring and responsible-AI controls.
• Familiarity with GitHub Copilot, Gemini Code Assist or comparable tools. Experience with Kubernetes and enterprise release/change-management controls. Experience improving an existing team’s engineering practices and delivery predictability
