Job summary

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. is seeking a Lead Firmware Software Engineer in Multimedia/Camera. You will define and drive firmware architecture for automotive ISP, develop embedded C real-time firmware, and lead drivers, interrupt handling, DMA, memory management, and boot flows for platform bring-up.

The role requires 14+ years in embedded firmware, ARM Cortex-R52 multicore expertise, SafeRTOS experience, and strong leadership to mentor engineers across cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• 14+ years of embedded software or firmware development experience.
• Expert-level proficiency in Embedded C and real-time embedded systems with attention to detail.
• Automotive ISP firmware and camera processing pipelines.
• ARM Cortex-R52 architecture and multicore systems.
• Hands-on experience with SafeRTOS or other safety-certified RTOS environments.

Lead Firmware Software engineer in Multimedia / Camera

THE ROLE:

AMD is looking for an influential software engineer who is passionate about improving the performance of key applications and benchmarks. You will be a member of a core team of incredibly talented industry specialists and will work with the very latest hardware and software technology.

THE PERSON:

The ideal candidate should be passionate about software engineering and possess leadership skills to lead the architecture, development, and optimization of safety-critical firmware for next-generation Automotive ISP platforms. Able to communicate effectively and work optimally with different teams across AMD.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Define and drive firmware architecture for automotive ISP and camera processing platforms.
• Design, develop, optimize, and debug embedded firmware in C for real-time, safety-critical systems.
• Lead development of device drivers, interrupt handling, DMA, memory management, boot flows, and hardware abstraction layers.
• Drive hardware-software integration, platform bring-up, and system-level debugging.
• Collaborate with silicon, Linux drivers, safety, and validation teams to deliver robust firmware solutions.
• Lead technical reviews and drive engineering best practices.
• Identify technical risks and execute mitigation strategies across complex programs.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership.
• Work with AMD’s architecture specialists to improve future products
• Stay informed of software and hardware trends and innovations, especially pertaining to algorithms and architecture
• Participating in new ASIC and hardware bring ups
• Debugging/fix existing issues and research alternative, more efficient ways to accomplish the same work
• Develop technical relationships with peers and partners

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• 14+ years of embedded software or firmware development experience.
• Expert-level proficiency in Embedded C and real-time embedded systems with a bility to write high quality code with a keen attention to detail
• Automotive ISP firmware and camera processing pipelines.
• ARM Cortex-R52 architecture and multicore systems.
• Hands-on experience with SafeRTOS or other safety-certified RTOS environments
• Device drivers, interrupts, DMA, memory management, and boot loaders.
• Experience with Image sensors and ISP hardware interfaces
• Hardware-software integration and platform bring-up
• Performance optimization and profiling.
• Debugging using JTAG, Lauterbach Trace32, or any other embedded debugging tools.

• Experience with modern concurrent programming and threading APIs
• Experience with software development processes and tools such as source code control systems (GitHub) and profilers is a plus
• Effective communication and problem-solving skills

• Motivating leader with good interpersonal skills

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

• Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
