Job summary

Danfoss is seeking a Lead Engineer, Functional Safety & Software Quality for our Magarpatta, Pune facility. You will drive functional safety across development projects, ensure traceability and evidence, and guide engineers on SIL/ASIL compliant designs.

Responsibilities include safety requirement management, interfacing with cybersecurity teams, and continuous improvement of the Trusted PDP process. Strong background in embedded systems and standards is essential.

Danfoss is seeking a Lead Engineer, Functional Safety & Software Quality at our facility in Magarpatta, Pune. The Functional Safety & Software Quality Expert will perform safety activities in development projects according to IEC 61508 and ISO 26262 requirements. The role will manage or develop Functional Safety work products such as Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessments, Safety Concepts, SIL/ASIL assignments and decomposition, Functional Safety Management Plans, Requirements, Safety Requirements, FMEDA and SFMEA.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Implementation of Functional Safety into development projects
• Manage safety requirements in Requirements Management Systems
• Interlink with related Cyber Security Requirements and Organizations
• Drive Cyber Security Technology into the Product Development
• Develop work products like Hazard Analysis, Threat Analysis, Risk Assessments, Safety Concepts, SIL/ASIL assignments/decomposition, FSM Plans, FMEDA, SFMEA
• Provide design guidance to engineers for realizing SIL/ASIL/SL certified designs
• Ensure requirements traceability, completeness, coverage and evidence
• Review test case specifications for safety requirements
• Ensure Safety Verification and Validation activities (planning and execution)
• Facilitate the use of the Danfoss PDP Trusted Process into development projects
• Act as functional liaison with Customers and Certification Bodies
• Coordinate verification and validation of functional safety requirements
• Continual improvement as member of a global Quality and Business Process team
• Continuous Improvement of the Trusted PDP
• Support the implementation of process automation and DevOps tools
• Support organizational compliance with CMMi and Automotive SPICE

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a comparable degree (Master’s or PhD preferred)
• Passion for functional safety development processes in accordance with IEC 61508, ISO 26262, ISO 13849 or other comparable standards
• Good understanding of similarities between Standards for Development Quality, Functional Safety and Cyber Security
• Strong knowledge of Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment
• Experience in design for Functional Safety or with Software Quality Assurance
• Background in embedded systems development is a plus
• Experience with a Requirements management software tool
• Knowledge of tools such as Polarion, MS Azure, Medini, and DevOps
• Knowledge and execution of software quality processes (e.g., CMMi, ASPICE)
