Zusammenfassung

GE Aerospace in Bengaluru seeks a Lead Engineer for the Engine Mounts team within Engineering Sciences. You will own the structural integrity and airworthiness of engine attachment hardware across our commercial engine portfolio, spanning in-service CF34, GE90, GEnx and newer platforms.

The role combines design and integration responsibilities, requiring cross-functional collaboration across certification domains (FAA Part 33/25) and with manufacturing to ensure safe, robust interfaces.

Qualifikationen

  • Strong foundation in solid mechanics and mechanical design.

Aufgaben

  • Own and deliver across new product introduction, in-service sustaining, and advanced technology programmes, balancing priorities without compromising safety or quality.
  • Perform design, analysis, and evaluation using GE Aerospace practices, combining hand calculations with FE analysis to size engine components.
  • Define how the engine attaches to the aircraft — mount system architecture, load paths, geometry, stiffness, and thermal growth across configurations.
  • Assess hardware against flight, ground, and transient load conditions, including fan blade-out events, supporting whole-engine models.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing to resolve non-conforming hardware and improve producibility and on-time delivery.
  • Apply technical judgment to moderately complex engineering and data analysis, drawing on cross-functional sources.
  • Present findings in design reviews, reports, and presentations to peers and leaders.

Job Description Summary

Every GE Aerospace engine in the sky is held to its aircraft by a small set of highly loaded structural components: the engine mounts. If they are right, nobody notices. Getting them right is what our team does.

As a Lead Engineer in the Engine Mounts team within Engineering Sciences at GE Aerospace Bengaluru, you will own the structural integrity and airworthiness of engine attachment hardware across our commercial engine portfolio, from in-service engines such as the CF34, GE90 and GEnx, to the GE9X, to next-generation propulsion concepts including the RISE programme.

Engine mounts are the load path between the engine and the aircraft, so this is as much an engine-to-wing integration role as it is a component design role. Everything the engine does, thrust, manoeuvre and gust loads, thermal growth, backbone bending, vibration, and the extreme transient of a fan blade-out event, is reacted through the engine mounts and passed into the pylon and wing. Getting that interface right means working across two certification worlds at once - FAA Part 33 (engine certification) and FAA Part 25 (aircraft certification).

Few roles in the industry offer that breadth of exposure, and even fewer offer it alongside both mature-fleet and clean-sheet technology work. You will see your decisions turn into hardware, and you will see that hardware fly.

Job Description
Site Overview

Established in 2000, the John F. Welch Technology Center (JFWTC) in Bengaluru is our multidisciplinary research and engineering center. Engineers and scientists at JFWTC have contributed to hundreds of aviation patents, pioneering breakthroughs in engine technologies, advanced materials, and additive manufacturing.

Role Overview
  • Own and meet on-time commitments across new product introduction, in-service sustaining, and advanced technology programmes, balancing competing priorities without compromising safety or quality.
  • Execute design, analysis, and evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles, GE Aerospace design practices, and established business standards — combining classical hand calculations with finite element analysis to size and justify engine components and modules.
  • Define and control how the engine attaches to the aircraft - mount system architecture, load paths and reactions, interface loads and geometry, stiffness and clearance budgets, and thermal growth and deflection management across the installed configuration.
  • Assess mount and interface hardware against flight, ground, manoeuvre, and limit and ultimate load conditions, including critical transient events such as fan blade-out and windmilling imbalance, and support the whole-engine and installed-system models that underpin them.
  • Partner with manufacturing shops and suppliers to resolve non-conforming hardware and production issues, including Material Review Board (MRB) dispositions, Departure Records, etc., driving improved producibility and on-time delivery to our customers.
  • Apply technical judgement and data analysis to moderately complex engineering, manufacturing, and product issues. Bring fresh perspective to established solutions, and draw on sources beyond your own function to reach the right answer.
  • Present findings, recommendations, and results in design reviews, technical reports, memos, and presentations, to peers, programme leaders, and external partners alike.
Ideal Candidate
  • Ideal candidate should have experience in solid mechanics and mechanical design, with practical, hands‑on experience in finite element analysis (FEA).
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil, or a related engineering discipline, with 4+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 3+ years, or a PhD with relevant research or industry experience. Equivalent qualifications and experience will be considered.
  • Strong foundation in solid mechanics and mechanical design, with practical, hands‑on experience in finite element analysis (FEA).
  • A track record of delivering results across multiple concurrent projects, balancing timing and quality of outcomes.
  • Ability to make priority trade-offs that optimise overall programme delivery rather than any single task.
  • Clear written and spoken communication in English.
Preferred Qualification
  • Experience with aircraft engine mounts, aero‑structures, or other highly loaded structural hardware.
  • Exposure to engine-to-wing or propulsion system integration — pylon and nacelle interfaces, installed engine loads, interface control documents, or engine build‑up and quick engine change configurations.
  • Experience with whole‑engine or installed‑system structural models, interface load extraction, or transient load events such as fan blade‑out and windmilling.
  • Direct working experience with aircraft manufacturers or structural suppliers on a shared interface.
  • Material Review Board (MRB) certification in the structures domain, or experience supporting non‑conformance dispositions.
  • Familiarity with FAA Part 33 and/or Part 25 certification processes.
  • Understanding of manufacturing and inspection processes, and of structural repair methods.
  • Comfort with digital and analytics tools to enable data‑driven engineering decisions — including automation of repetitive analysis work.
  • A systems‑thinking approach: connecting hardware decisions to programme cost, schedule, and certification outcomes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an instinct for building networks across functions, sites, and supplier partners.
  • A quick learner who prioritises strategically, challenges existing processes constructively, and follows through.

At GE Aerospace, we have a relentless dedication to the future of safe and more sustainable flight and believe in our talented people to make it happen. Here, you will have the opportunity to work on really cool things with really smart and collaborative people. Together, we will mobilize a new era of growth in aerospace and defense. Where others stop, we accelerate.
