What You’ll Do
Eaton Corporation’s Center for Intelligent Power has an opening for Lead Engineer passionate about embedded system development, ML/AI model creation for embedded systems and model‐based design. The Edge AI Engineer will develop edge intelligence solutions, working with business technical leaders. Responsibilities include design, development, testing, and deployment of ML/AI algorithms on edge platforms/controllers. The engineer will define workloads, implement models, characterize performance, and optimize deployments on resource‑constrained controller platforms. Candidate needs strong systems understanding, digital signal processing, machine learning & AI, and model‑based development skills.
- Design, develop, test DSP and ML/AI models in Simulink, code generation, optimization, and testing.
- Experience with edge‑specific machine learning libraries and platforms, memory and time optimization.
- Implement system‑to‑component requirements, unit test cases (HIL/SIL), software integration, and delivery.
- Proven problem solving and debugging on actual hardware.
- Conversant with Agile methodologies and tools; track record of delivering products in a production environment.
- Recommend and set up appropriate performance monitoring solutions; author and implement based on results.
- Document and demonstrate solutions using flowcharts, diagrams, code comments, code snippets, and performance instruments.
- Author high‑quality, high‑performance, unit‑tested code based on business and Edge AI needs; participate in code reviews.
- Work directly with stakeholders, engineering, and test to create high‑quality solutions that solve end‑user problems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
- 8+ years of progressive experience delivering technology solutions in a production environment.
- 8+ years of embedded systems development with a proven track record of shipping high‑quality products.
- 6+ years of experience with modelling tools (MATLAB/Simulink), automatic code generation, and HIL testing.
- 3+ years hands‑on experience in AI/ML, edge‑specific libraries, TensorFlow Lite, etc.
Skills
- High‑level analytics ability, understanding engineering theory and design principles.
- Experience in embedded systems development, troubleshooting, and real‑time operating systems.
- Proven track record of problem solving, system integration, verification, and validation.
- Programming knowledge: MATLAB, Simulink, Embedded C/C++, Python.
- Software development lifecycle processes and tools.
- Agile development methodologies, hands‑on with Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence.
- Knowledge of software compliance metrics and standards.
- Experience with Ethernet, CAN, Modbus, TCP/IP.
