Job summary

Fold Health is seeking a Lead Engineer to drive design, development, and scaling of our healthcare platform. You will guide engineering teams, set coding standards, and ensure secure, scalable solutions across web and mobile.

You will lead backend microservices and frontend work while ensuring HIPAA compliance and data security. A hands-on technologist with strong leadership is essential in a fast-paced startup environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS, Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of hands-on engineering experience with 3+ years in lead/architect role.
• Strong expertise in Node.js (NestJS), ReactJS/React Native, Python, and TypeScript.

Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership: Lead design and architecture discussions for scalable, secure, and resilient systems.
• Product Development: Collaborate with PMs, architects, and cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end features.
• Innovation & Strategy: Evaluate emerging technologies (AI/ML, data standards, cloud-native) and plan roadmaps.
• Quality & Performance: Ensure performance, scalability, and reliability across web and mobile platforms; oversee CI/CD and testing.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Lead Engineer who will play a key role in designing, building, and scaling Fold Health’s healthcare platform. The ideal candidate will be a hands‑on technologist with strong leadership skills, capable of guiding engineering teams, setting best practices, and driving the delivery of high‑quality, scalable solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.


• 10–15 years of hands‑on engineering experience, with at least 3+ years in a lead/architect role.


• Strong expertise in Node.js (NestJS), ReactJS, React Native, Python (preferred), and TypeScript.


• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).


• Solid knowledge of PostgreSQL, data pipelines, and healthcare data (EHR, claims, ADT, FHIR standards).


• Familiarity with AI/ML integration and building data‑driven applications.


• Experience with HIPAA, security best practices, and compliance in healthcare systems.


• Strong problem‑solving, system design, and communication skills.


• Proven track record of mentoring teams and delivering complex products in a startup or fast‑paced environment.

Good to Have

• Experience with healthcare integrations (Elation, Athena, eCW, HIE, claims pipelines).


• Familiarity with Twilio – Programable SMS and Voice calls, Mailgun - emails, wearable data APIs.


• Exposure to BI/reporting tools (PowerBI, BigQuery).


• Prior experience in Value‑Based Care (VBC) programs or healthcare startups.
