Position Overview

Position: Lead / Senior Electrical Engineer – Infrastructure & EPC

Experience: 10-15+ Years

Employment Type: Full-Time / On-Site

Location: [Ahmedabad, Gujarat]

Industry: Infrastructure, Critical Facilities, EPC Construction

The Lead Electrical Engineer will direct and oversee all electrical engineering, procurement support, site execution, quality assurance, and testing & commissioning for large-scale infrastructure projects. The role requires end-to-end technical leadership across high-tension (HT) and low-tension (LT) systems, sub-station commissioning, statutory regulatory clearances, and multi-disciplinary MEP coordination for critical facilities (Super-Specialty Hospitals, Airport/Transit Terminals, or Government EPC Campuses).

Key Responsibilities
1. Substation & Power Distribution Execution
  • Direct the installation, testing, and commissioning of 11kV/33kV/66kV indoor/outdoor substations, power transformers, HT/LT switchgears (VCBs, ACBs), busducts, and cable trays.
  • Manage installation and automated synchronization of multi-megawatt DG sets, central online UPS systems, and battery banks for continuous, uninterruptible power.
  • Supervise earth mat design implementation, soil resistivity testing, lightning protection systems, and clean earthing networks.
2. Specialized Facility Systems Integration
  • Healthcare Infrastructure: Oversee installation of Isolated Power Systems (IPS) for Operating Theatres and Intensive Care Units, line isolation monitors (LIM), medical-grade grounding, and life-safety branch isolation per NFPA 99 / NEC 517 / NBC standards.
  • Terminals & Large Campuses: Integrate electrical supply with central chilled water HVAC plants, dynamic baggage handling systems, flight/passenger information display systems, airfield ground lighting interfaces, and smart Building Management Systems (BMS).
3. Engineering Review & Technical Governance
  • Audit and approve detailed Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), cable sizing calculations, short-circuit and fault-level analyses, protective relay coordination studies, harmonic mitigation designs, and lux-level photometric simulations.
  • Perform value engineering and constructability reviews on engineering drawings submitted by design consultants and MEP subcontractors.
4. Statutory Approvals & Grid Energization
  • Spearhead end-to-end liaison with the Chief Electrical Inspectorate (CEIG), State Electricity Boards (DISCOMs), and municipal fire authorities.
  • Prepare inspection documentation, conduct pre-commissioning safety audits, and secure formal statutory approvals for substation charging and grid synchronization.
5. EPC Contract & Site Management
  • Lead Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) at vendor manufacturing units and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) for critical electrical capital equipment.
  • Supervise subcontractors against the project baseline schedule, verify Bills of Quantities (BOQ), review technical variation orders, and approve contractor measurement sheets.
  • Coordinate with structural, architectural, plumbing, and fire protection engineering teams using BIM/Revit workflows to eliminate spatial clashes.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Education: B.Tech / B.E. / B.Sc in Electrical Engineering or Electrical & Electronics Engineering from a recognized university.
  • Experience: 10-15+ years of hands‑on site execution, commissioning, and project management in large-scale EPC infrastructure.
  • Sector Background: Proven track record delivering at least one of the following:
  • 300+ Bed Super-Specialty Hospital
  • Airport Passenger Terminal / Transit Hub
  • Large Government Institutional Campus under CPWD, AAI, MES, or state PWD norms
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Deep working proficiency with the National Building Code (NBC), Central Electricity Authority (CEA) safety regulations, IEEE/IEC standards, and standard EPC/FIDIC contract conditions.
  • Software Tools: Working knowledge of AutoCAD, ETAP / Dialux (for calculation audits), MS Project / Primavera P6 (for milestone tracking), and BIM coordination platforms.
