NTT Global Data Centers & Cloud Infrastructure India Private Limited is seeking a skilled facilities technician to operate, maintain, and repair critical mechanical and electrical systems in our data centre. The role focuses on ensuring reliable data centre performance, energy efficiency, and safe operation of HVAC, electrical distribution, and fire life safety systems.

Qualifications

  • Solid understanding of electrical distribution and mechanical systems in data centre environments.
  • Experience with large commercial/industrial HVAC and fire life safety systems.
  • Familiarity with NEC/NFPA standards and building codes related to safety.

Responsabilités

  • Operate, monitor, maintain, and repair chilled water and HVAC systems.
  • Manage electrical distribution from utility to customer load and monitor UPS/PDUs.
  • Oversee fire suppression and detection systems and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Coordinate with contractors for projects and expansions.
  • Maintain documentation and participate in preventative maintenance programs.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Mechanical responsibilities includes operation, maintenance and repair of chilled water systems and components, HVAC systems such as roof top units, CRAC/CRAH units, and humidification systems.

Electrical responsibilities includes operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical/critical power distribution from the Utility/Generator main switchgear through the UPS systems out to the customer load.

Fire Life Safety responsibilities includes operation, maintenance, and repair of fire suppression systems, including wet sprinkler systems and pre‑action sprinkler systems as well as their associated detection devices.

Operates, monitors, maintains, and responds to abnormal conditions in facilities systems, areas include: Electrical, Mechanical and Building Monitoring and Control Systems.

Tracks and analyses trends relating to MEP system and equipment operational characteristics.

Provides feedback to relevant teams on the effectiveness of existing standards and processes.

Works with contractors and consultants for all National Projects, consultants and clients fit‑outs, system expansions, corrections, and upgrades.

Works with relevant teams to follow and track annual budgets.

Works with relevant teams to relay the status of the planned maintenance program status.

Ensures data centre operates at maximum operational efficiency, including analysing existing operating conditions, recommending new technologies, and improving overall efficiency and cost reduction.

Works with relevant teams to ensure the data centre operates at maximum operational efficiency.

Serves in a technical writing capacity regarding the creation, review, and approval of procedures for operations, preventative or corrective maintenance activities and emergency operating procedures.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Ensures a regular, predictable attendance which is essential for satisfactory performance.

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes

Firm and proven understanding of the electrical and mechanical systems used in a data centre environment, including, but not limited to the following: electrical distribution and layout, transformers, PLC's, Generators, Switchgear, UPS systems, STS, ATS, PDU/RPP's, Chilled Water Systems, CRAC/CRAH's, Pre-Action Sprinkler Systems and associate Fire/Smoke Detections systems.

Advanced level knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 72, NFPA 25, and compliance issues as well as building codes, regarding fire life safety requirements and guidance.

Advanced level knowledge in industrial safety best practices (i.e. lockout/tag out, arc flash protection, OSHA, and state regulations).

Highly experienced with data trending / tracking and analysis and ability to rapidly learn and use PC based, integrated critical monitoring systems.

Proficient with computers to include the utilisation of Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.

Ability to work in a team environment.

Manages stress and/or fast pace effectively.

Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Demonstrated advanced level of experience installing, maintaining, and/or troubleshooting large commercial and industrial systems including:

  • Chilled Water Systems
  • Large Centrifugal Chillers
  • Cooling Towers
  • Heat Exchangers
  • Indirect Air Exchange Heat Wheel Rooftop units
  • Water Treatment Systems
  • VFD's and Pumps
  • HVAC equipment
  • CRAC/CRAH's
  • Humidification Systems
  • BMS and PLC Controls
  • Emergency Standby Diesel Generator Systems
  • Fuel/Oil systems,
  • 480/277 and 208/120 electrical generation and distribution
  • Static UPS Systems
  • Dual Interlocked Fire Suppression Pre-Action Systems

Comfortable working in a high stress, fast paced environment with shifting priorities.

Ability to work shift rota which may require nights, holidays, and some weekends.

Academic Qualifications and Certifications

Relevant high school diploma or equivalent required.

Relevant advanced qualification or equivalent work related experience required.

Relevant certifications such as:

  • CPR/First Aid and NFPA70E Certification (can be gained during course of employment)
  • OSHA-10 General Industry Course completion
  • Forklift Certified (optional)
Required Experience

Significant demonstrated experience in a similar role gained within a data centre facilities environment.

Significant experienced in a mechanical/electrical role within critical facilities (preference given to data centre, hospital, semi-conductor, or power plant experience).

Solid demonstrated experience as a data centre technician L2 in a critical facility environment.

Demonstrated experience as a critical facilities maintenance team leader.

Significant demonstrated experience installing, maintaining, and/or troubleshooting large commercial and industrial systems including:

  • Chilled Water Systems
  • Large Centrifugal Chillers
  • Cooling Towers
  • Heat Exchangers
  • Indirect Air Exchange Heat Wheel Rooftop units
  • Water Treatment Systems
  • VFD's and Pumps
