Ideal candidates have 5+ years of BA experience in finance, strong SQL on large databases, and familiarity with AWS, Python, and AI/ML to enhance processes. The role emphasizes compliance and cross‑functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Excellent understanding of the SDLC process and delivery experience using Waterfall and Agile methodologies.

Business Overview:

The Surveillance IT team sits within Nomura's broader Technology division and plays a critical role in the firm's compliance management infrastructure. This team is responsible for developing and maintaining sophisticated surveillance systems that monitor trading activities, communications, and market conduct across the organization.

Role Description / Responsibilities

Nomura are looking for an experienced, self-motivated Senior Business Analyst, who is ready to take the lead on strategic and BAU projects in the IT Surveillance domain. The role would require working closely with business units to determine requirements, perform data and gap analysis on existing systems,andprioritize issues. The individual will have:

• Strong analytical skills and ability to translate complex technical requirements into business solutions
• Conduct workshops, assessments,andstrategic planning activities
• Ability to handle communicationsandbuild relationships with technology teams andbusiness users
• Demonstrable knowledge and experience of producing project artefacts (business requirements, functional specifications, test scripts, testing)
• Strong understanding of, or the ability to quickly gain such, of applicable laws, regulations,andguidance in the subject area as well as the desire to keep up with changes in a complex environment
• Experience of AI / ML to improve business processes

Skills, experience and knowledge required

• Bachelor’s degree in business, IT, or related field
• Excellent understanding of the SDLC process
• Delivery experience using Waterfalland Agile methodologies
• Understanding ofAML/Trade Surveillance/Control Roomconcepts
• Proficient in SQL from a query perspective on a large database platform (eg MS-SQL, Oracle etc.)
• Proficiency in AWS Cloud, basic Python programming skills, AI/ML
• Exceptional verbalandwritten communication skills
• Confidence in communicating withandadvising senior executives
• Detailandquality oriented

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a business analyst in the financial industry

Tools experience (must have)

• Microsoft Word, Excel, PPT, Project Plan, Visio
• MS-SQL / Oracle DB PL/SQL, AWS
• JIRA, HP QC

Nice to have

• Technical experience of Actimize ActOne (case management system)
• Reasonable understanding of financial products including Derivatives, Corporate Bonds, Converts, Loans, Swaps, Equities and their Trade Life Cycle
