Job summary

Empower Bengaluru is seeking an experienced financial reporting professional to oversee U.S. GAAP and Canadian GAAP reporting for its investment portfolios and subsidiaries. You will ensure consistency of disclosures, prepare journal entries, and support audits.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Accounting, 5–7 years of financial reporting experience, CPA preferred, and advanced Excel skills. Public accounting or investment reporting background is a plus, with a focus on accuracy and regulatory

Responsibilities

• Oversee and review U.S. GAAP and Canadian GAAP reporting for the Insurance Company and affiliates.
• Ensure reporting consistency in financial statements and board reports.
• Research and propose new disclosures in response to pronouncements and guidelines.
• Determine appropriate disclosures for new investment types.
• Interpret pronouncements in relation to U.S. GAAP/Canadian GAAP.
• Recommend changes to accounting systems and presentation of information.
• Maintain proper audit trail of financial statement numbers for subsidiaries.
• Prepare audit documents and respond to ad-hoc reporting requests.

Responsible for overseeing and reviewing U.S. GAAP, Canadian GAAP, regulatory, tax and/or Board financial reporting for investment portfolios of the Insurance Company, subsidiaries and affiliates. Requires a thorough understanding of accounting pronouncements and appropriate application to the investment portfolio. Responsible for various related compliance testing and reporting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Assists with the investment reporting function for U.S. and Canadian GAAP, regulatory, tax and/or board requirements of the Insurance Company, subsidiaries and affiliates.
• Ensures reporting consistency in the financial statements, board reports and information provided to analysts.
• Researches and proposes new disclosures and modifications to reports in response to new pronouncements and guidelines.
• Determines appropriate disclosures related to new investment types.
• Interprets new pronouncements and guidelines issued by authoritative associations in relation to U.S. GAAP, Canadian GAAP, or various regulations.
• Recommends appropriate changes to accounting systems and presentation of information
• Insurance Company, subsidiaries and affiliates, ensuring a proper audit trail of financial statements numbers.
• Analyzes and interprets financial results.
• Prepares audit documents upon request.
• Explains reports and position to auditors as necessary.
• Responds to ad-hoc reporting requests requiring interpretation of requests, professional formatting and explanation of results.
• Prepares related journal entries and reconciliations for accounts.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
• 5-7 years of financial reporting experience required.
• Public accounting or investment related financial reporting experience a plus.
• CPA preferred.
• Advanced Excel skills
