Job summary

NACBA in Bengaluru seeks an experienced portfolio accounting specialist to manage daily accounting and valuation of Separately Managed Accounts under GAAP. This role supports training, reconciliations, and audit activities with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance; specialized bachelor's degree not required.
• 5-7 years of directly related accounting experience in securities operations or financial industry.
• Advanced MS Office skills.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with ability to balance priorities and deadlines.
• Experience with Bloomberg preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review daily cash transactions and posting of accounting entries.
• Review new security master file setup for new portfolio purchases.
• Review daily trial balance and sub-ledger reconciliations.
• Review/calculate daily fund valuations.
• Review transfer agent reconciliations.
• Prepare daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliation reports for Funds.
• Review GL accounts and resolve reconciling items.
• Lead/support internal and external audit requests.
• May train and mentor lower-level staff.
• Assist manager with monthly reports and reconciliations.
• Contribute to department projects and staffing/pay decisions.
• Exhibit effective communication and problem-solving to optimize team performance.

This position works under the general direction of accounting management. In accordance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), performs the daily accounting and valuation of the Separately Managed Accounts. Assists in training new portfolio accountants and assists the Manager in reviewing daily and monthly reconciliations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Responsibilities include reviewing daily cash transactions, reviewing/posting accounting entries, reviewing/preparing wire requests, researching transaction exceptions, and assuring timely clearing of cash activity.
• Review new security master file set-up for new portfolio security purchases.
• Review daily trial balance accounts and sub ledger reconciliations.
• Review/calculate timely and accurate daily fund valuations.
• Review transfer agent reconciliations.
• Review/prepare various daily, monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliation reports for the Funds.
• Review GL accounts, investigate reconciling items, and resolve open issues.
• Leads support activities for internal and external audit requests.
• Assist the manager by reviewing monthly reports and reconciliations.
• May train, mentor, and/or coordinate and direct the work of lower-level staff.
• Administers the mutual fund accounting function's controls and procedures and provides input to the staffing and pay decision-making processes.
• Assists with department projects to meet annual bonus objectives.
• Exercises effective interpersonal communication, training and problem-solving skills to optimize team performance.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance; without a specialized bachelor's degree
• 5-7 years of directly related experience is required in accounting, preferably in a securities operations or accounting area within a financial industry firm.
• Advanced MS Office skills.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities in adherence to strict timeframes and deadlines.
• Demonstrated problem solving skills.
• Attention to detail, accuracy and timeliness.
• Experience with various on-line information resources, such as Bloomberg, preferred.
