Job summary

ServerHub is seeking a Senior Linux System Engineer to lead design, deployment, and optimization of high-performance hosting platforms. You will manage Linux-based environments (CentOS/Ubuntu/RHEL), web servers (Apache/Nginx), databases, and storage, while ensuring security and uptime in a remote-first team.

The role emphasizes hands-on automation with Ansible/Terraform, strong networking, and 24/7 on-call readiness, with opportunities to mentor L1/L2 staff and collaborate with NOC and DevOps

Qualifications

• 11+ years Linux system administration in hosting/cloud.
• 7+ years in senior/Level 3 role.
• Must be KVM and Libvirt expert with 7+ years.
• Web hosting tech: cPanel, Plesk, WHM, LAMP/LEMP stacks.
• Strong scripting in Perl, Bash, Python.
• Experience with Ansible, Puppet, Chef.
• Networking: TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, Firewalls, Load Balancing.
• RAID/SAN/NAS and distributed storage knowledge.
• On-call 24/7 production support.
• Certs such as RHCE, AWS SysOps, CK A are a plus.
• Good English communication.

Responsibilities

• Act as final escalation point (L3) for complex server, hosting, and network issues.
• Diagnose and resolve critical system failures, outages, and performance problems.
• Manage, optimize, and secure Linux hosting environments (CentOS, Ubuntu, RHEL).
• Administer and fine-tune web servers, databases, and caching layers.
• Build and deploy servers from ground up with secure configurations.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts for provisioning and config management.
• Utilize Ansible, Terraform, and similar tools for deployments.
• Deploy and manage KVM/OpenStack/VMware or containerized environments.
• Support cloud-based hosting solutions (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Implement security best practices and perform vulnerability assessments.
• Set up monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix, Nagios).
• Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation and incident response.
• Collaborate with NOC, DevOps, and Engineering teams; mentor L1/L2 staff.

Cloud & Virtualization:

• Deploy and manage KVM, OpenStack, VMware, or containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Support cloud-based hosting solutions (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).

Security & Compliance:

• Implement security best practices, includingfirewallrules,SELinux/AppArmor, IDS/IPS.
• Perform vulnerability assessments and patch management to secure customer environments.

Monitoring & Incident Response:

• Set up and manage monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix, Nagios.
• Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation for urgent system issues.

Collaboration & Mentoring:

• Work closely with NOC, DevOps, and Engineering teams to ensure smooth operations.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to L1 & L2 support engineers.
