We are currently undergoing a strategic expansion of our rotoscoping department. We are looking for Mid‑to‑Senior Roto Artists who view their craft not just as a technical task, but as an essential art form that sets the stage for every breathtaking visual effect.

Job Overview: Roto Artist

• Company Name: JustVFX Studios
• Position: Roto Artist (Mid‑to‑Senior)
• Job Type: Full‑Time
• Location: Chennai / Hyderabad (Hybrid Options Available)
• Experience: 2–6 Years in a VFX Production Pipeline
• Primary Software: Silhouette FX, Foundry Nuke, Mocha Pro
• Salary Range: ₹35,000 – ₹65,000 per month*
• Application ID: JVFX-ROTO-2026

Note on Remuneration: Final salary offers are based on technical proficiency, speed, and the complexity of shots demonstrated in the candidate’s showreel.

The Role: Precision at the Pixel Level

At JustVFX Studios, the Roto Artist is the silent hero of the pipeline. We are looking for specialists who thrive on challenges that others find daunting. Whether it is the intricate movement of fine hair in a high‑action sequence or the organic flow of fur against a complex background, your work will provide the perfect foundation for our compositing team.

Key Responsibilities

• Advanced Matte Extraction: Generate articulate and consistent mattes for complex moving objects and characters.
• Edge Management: Mastery over motion blur, defocus, and fine‑edge detail (hair, fur, cloth) to ensure seamless integration in the compositing stage.
• Complex Tracking: Utilize point, planar, and mocha‑based tracking to ensure rotoscoping shapes remain rock‑solid across high‑motion plates.
• Quality Assurance: Self‑reviewing work to ensure that all mattes are flicker‑free and maintain temporal consistency.
• Collaborative Efficiency: Working closely with the Paint and Comp departments to ensure that the deliverables meet the specific technical requirements of the downstream pipeline.

Technical Requirements & Qualifications

JustVFX Studios is seeking Roto artists who have spent significant time “in the trenches” of professional production.

1. Software Proficiency:

   • Silhouette FX: Deep expertise in shape management and specialized roto tools.
   • Foundry Nuke: Ability to integrate roto into Nuke scripts and understand basic node‑based workflows.
   • Mocha Pro: Advanced planar tracking skills to minimize manual keyframing.

2. Specialized Skills:

   • Proven ability to handle fur and hair with organic, believable results.
   • A strong understanding of motion blur—knowing when to use sub‑frames and how to represent blur accurately with shapes.
   • Experience with stereoscopic rotoscoping is a significant advantage.

3. Experience Level:

   • Mid‑Level (2‑4 years): Should be able to handle standard‑to‑complex shots with minimal supervision.
   • Senior‑Level (4‑6+ years): Expected to lead by example, handle the most difficult “hero” shots, and assist in mentoring junior artists.

How to Apply

We are eager to see your work. To be considered for this role, please ensure your application is professional and complete.
