Responsibilities

  • Study quantum noise models and their impact on quantum circuits and logical qubits.
  • Generate and analyse syndrome data for quantum error correction experiments.
  • Implement and evaluate decoding algorithms for quantum error correction.
  • Work with tools such as Stim, PyMatching, Qiskit, and Qiskit-Aer or equivalent quantum simulation frameworks.
  • Perform simulations and benchmarking of QEC techniques under different noise conditions.
  • Analyse metrics such as logical error rates, physical-to-logical error performance, decoding accuracy, and computational overhead.
  • Assist in developing software pipelines for quantum circuit simulation, syndrome generation, decoding, and result analysis.
  • Support integration of QEC algorithms with quantum computing software platforms.
  • Conduct literature surveys and investigate emerging techniques in fault-tolerant quantum computing.
  • Prepare technical reports, documentation, research papers, and project deliverables.
  • Assist in developing research prototypes and technology demonstrations.
  • Collaborate with quantum software developers, researchers, and other project team members.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Junior Research Fellow for the Amritapuri Campus to support research and development in Quantum Error Correction (QEC) and Quantum Error Mitigation (QEM). Under the guidance of senior researchers, the candidate will work on quantum error models, quantum circuits, stabilizer and surface codes, syndrome extraction, and decoding techniques. The role includes developing and evaluating QEC algorithms, conducting quantum circuit and noise simulations, analysing logical error rates, and supporting QEC software-tool development. The candidate will also contribute to experimental studies, technical documentation, publications, and research prototypes.
