Job summary

Synergy Group is seeking a Vessel Design/Engineering professional in Mumbai to support technical specification reviews and ensure vessel designs comply with applicable codes and regulatory requirements. The role involves coordinating with shipyards and internal teams, applying lessons learned, and ensuring plans meet contractual timelines.

Candidate will leverage experience in vessel construction projects to optimize designs and ensure ongoing compliance with SOLAS, IMO, Class, and IACS

Qualifications

  • Experience reviewing vessel specifications against codes and standards.
  • Familiarity with SOLAS, IMO, Class, IACS requirements.
  • Ability to manage documentation and track plan approvals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance to manager in technical specification reviews to ensure vessel designs complied with applicable Codes, Standards, Class regulations, and statutory requirements.
  • Collaborate with line managers to verify vessel specifications align with internal standards and objectives.
  • Incorporate feedback to ensure vessels meet current and future operational needs and regulatory compliance.
  • Apply insights from previous vessel projects to optimize design and efficiency in future builds.
  • Anticipate and implement upcoming regulatory requirements and technological advancements.

Job description

Roles Responsibilities:
  • Provide assistance to manager in technical specification reviews to ensure vessel designs complied with applicable Codes, Standards, Class regulations, and statutory requirements.
  • Collaborated with line managers to verify that vessel specifications aligned with internal standards and operational objectives.
  • Incorporate feedback and ensure that vessels met current and future operational needs and regulatory compliance.
  • Applied insights from previous vessel construction projects to optimize design and improve efficiency in future builds.
  • Anticipated and implemented upcoming regulatory requirements and technological advancements to ensure vessel longevity and ongoing compliance.
  • Reviewed vessel structural, outfitting and accommodation drawings to ensure compliance with all applicable SOLAS, IMO, Class, IACS standards, Codes, Standards, requirements, and good engineering practices.
  • Liaise with line manager to records of past reviews of similar plans to apply lessons learned and improve design and operational efficiency.
  • Ensured timeframe adherence for plan review in alignment with shipbuilding contract requirements.
  • Managed a Master List of Plans submitted by the shipyard and approved by the Company, ensuring compliance and organization.
  • Provided monthly status reports to manager on plan approval progress, as required by Owners.
  • Organized periodical meetings between the Company and Yard Project Managers, including Class and Site Managers, to resolve outstanding comments and issues.
  • Coordinated document and drawing transfer methods between the Company, Owner, and shipyard, ensuring plan approval comments were uploaded to the Yard Doc Server or Company server for accessibility by designated personnel.
  • Utilized document management systems for future plan approvals, ensuring seamless access and reference for similar projects.
  • Coordinated with the Manager and site team to ensure the shipbuilding process followed the signed technical specification, extra cost item list, technical memorandum/specification deviations, and agreed 3D model comments.
