We are seeking a hands‑on Technical Lead / Backend Engineer with strong expertise in Java, REST APIs, React and AWS to lead the development and support of a cloud‑based public‑safety platform.
The role primarily focuses on designing and developing Java‑based backend services, APIs, business logic and integrations, while also providing technical guidance across React/TypeScript frontend applications, AWS cloud services and application DevOps.
The ideal candidate will combine strong hands‑on engineering capabilities with technical leadership experience. You will lead a distributed engineering team while contributing directly to architecture, development, code reviews, deployments, releases and production support.
- Lead technical delivery across Java backend services, React applications, APIs, integrations, databases, AWS and application DevOps.
- Translate product requirements into technical designs, development tasks and estimates.
- Drive technical discussions and make informed engineering decisions.
- Define technical approaches, identify dependencies and communicate risks and trade‑offs to stakeholders.
- Coordinate development activities across distributed engineering teams.
- Mentor backend and full‑stack developers and provide technical guidance.
- Collaborate with mobile engineers, QA, DevOps and product teams.
