Job summary

Morningstar invites experienced software engineers to join our Product & Engineering team to design, develop, and maintain scalable PitchBook Collection applications. You will collaborate with leads, analysts, and developers to deliver robust solutions using Core Java, JSP, Spring, and React JS, with strong database experience across MS SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL and NoSQL options.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a similar field.
• 3–5 years of software development experience.
• Experience with AI-augmented development tools like GitHub Copilot and a passion for leveraging AI in software engineering.
• Hands-on in Java/Web-services/Spring/Spring Boot/React JS or any front-end framework.
• Very strong knowledge of databases (MS SQL/MySQL/PostgreSQL) and NoSQL DB (DynamoDB/MongoDB).
• Experience with AWS and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Familiarity with open-source world; contributing back is a plus.
• Experience with modern development practices in Product design, Requirement Analysis, TDD, Automation & Unit Testing.

Job description

In this role, you will work with cross functional teams including leads, analysts, and developers to design, develop, and maintain solutions that support PitchBook Collection Applications. You should have a strong understanding of Core Java, JSP, Spring, SQL, React JS, AI-augmented development tools, Component based architectures, and create scalable, flexible technical solutions. You would support existing systems, study their enterprise complexities, and develop/implement better systems with modern software development practices. Developing a good understanding of existing systems on other platforms and its database is a beginning step.

• Experienced with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Be aware of activity in the open-source world. Contributing back to open source is a big plus.
• Participation in full life-cycle system development with teams of developers, analysts, and testers.
• Experience with modern development practices in areas of Product design, Requirement
• Analysis, Test Driven Development, Automation & Unit Testing, in a product development
• Excellent listening, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving ability.
• Familiarity with architecture trade-off analysis methods and domain-driven design preferred.

Working Conditions

The job conditions for this position are in a standard office setting. Employees in this position use PC and phone on an on-going basis throughout the day. Limited corporate travel may be required to remote offices or other business meetings and events.
