Job summary

Morgan Stanley is seeking a Director-level Full Stack Developer to join the FORT Tech team in Operations Technology. The role focuses on developing and maintaining software solutions that support business needs across a global financial services context.

The position requires 5+ years in distributed event-based systems, strong Java/Spring Boot expertise, and experience with cloud platforms. You will mentor others, drive DevOps practices, and help shape scalable architectures.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years' experience in building distributed event-based systems using agile practices.
  • Solid understanding of microservice architecture, design patterns, resiliency, security and observability.
  • Strong skills in core Java, Spring Boot, SQL and related Spring features.
  • Experience with high-volume messaging and REST-based middleware.
  • Experience designing scalable databases (relational or other).
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and cloud-based development principles.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in refinement sessions to clarify requirements.
  • Write clean, performant, scalable, testable, and reusable code; build automated tests.
  • Guide junior developers and promote best software development practices.
  • Follow DevOps practices by creating CI/CD pipelines and capturing telemetry.
  • Contribute to elevating team standards and improving processes.
  • Collaborate on designing and implementing scalable data models and services.

We’re seeking someone to join our FORT Tech team as a Full stack developer in Operations Technology

This is Director position that develops and maintains software solutions that support business needs.

What you’ll bring to the role
  • Actively participate in the refinement sessions to ensure the requirements are clearly defined.
  • Write clean, performant, scalable, testable, and reusable code and build automated tests.
  • Guide more junior developers helping them to follow the best software development practices.
  • Follow the best DevOps practices - create CI/CD pipelines, enable capturing telemetry, etc.
  • Preferred experience on using AI tools
  • Contribute to enhancing team standards and improving processes. Skills required (essential):
  • Hands‑on with 5+ years' experience in building distributed event‑based systems applying agile practices. Sound understanding of microservice architecture and design patterns, system resiliency, scalability, security, and observability.
  • Strong working knowledge of core Java, Spring‑boot, SQL and other Spring framework features.
  • Experience with designing and implementing high volume messaging‑ and rest‑based middleware.
  • Experience with defining scalable database models (relational or others).
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools.
  • Familiarity with cloud‑based development principles.
  • Fast learner and desire to constantly learn and improve.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Bachelor's Degree in computer science or in a related field.

Skills desired (Recommended)
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure / AWS Cloud. (Mandate)
  • Experience with Angular. (Preferred)
  • Familiarity with Kafka (Mandate) and Mongo DB (Preferred)
  • Prior experience in FinTech application development. (Preferred)
  • Experience with working in a global delivery team.
