Source Desk Global is seeking a competent IT Product Analyst for its Kolkata office. The role focuses on analyzing business requirements, defining product functionality, and aligning user needs with software development processes.

You will work with product managers, developers, designers and QA teams to ensure requirements are clear and delivered, leveraging data insights and documenting BRDs, FRDs and user stories. 2-4 years' experience is preferred.

Job Description

We are looking for a Product Analyst with 2- 4 years of experience to support the analysis, development, enhancement, and continuous improvement of our software products and digital solutions.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of business requirements, product functionality, user needs, data analysis, and software development processes. The candidate will work closely with product managers, developers, designers, QA teams, and other stakeholders to ensure that product requirements are clearly defined and successfully delivered.

The role requires a combination of analytical thinking, business understanding, technical awareness, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

Product & Business Analysis

• Understand business objectives, user requirements, and product needs.
• Gather, analyze, and document functional and business requirements.
• Convert business requirements into clear product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Analyze existing product features and identify areas for improvement.
• Conduct market and competitor research to identify new product opportunities and industry trends.
• Support product managers in defining product priorities, enhancements, and roadmaps.

Product Development & Coordination

• Work closely with developers, designers, QA, and other teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Coordinate product requirements and ensure clarity across technical and non-technical teams.
• Track product development tasks, timelines, dependencies, and deliverables.
• Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, review meetings, and retrospectives where required.
• Support feature planning, development, testing, and release activities.
• Review completed features against defined requirements and acceptance criteria.

Data & Product Analysis

• Analyze product usage, user behavior, business data, and performance metrics.
• Prepare reports and dashboards to provide actionable insights to management and product teams.
• Identify trends, gaps, bottlenecks, and opportunities through data analysis.
• Track key product and business KPIs and provide recommendations for improvement.
• Use Excel/Google Sheets and relevant analytics tools for analysis and reporting.
• Basic knowledge of SQL for data extraction and analysis will be an advantage.

Product Documentation

• Prepare and maintain BRDs, FRDs, user stories, process flows, feature specifications, and acceptance criteria.
• Maintain product documentation and ensure requirements are updated throughout the development lifecycle.
• Prepare meeting notes, action items, product reports, and release documentation.
• Maintain organized records of product decisions, changes, and requirements.

User & Client Coordination

• Understand and document user/client feedback and translate it into actionable product requirements.
• Coordinate with internal teams to address product-related issues and requirements.
• Participate in client discussions, product demonstrations, requirement-gathering sessions, and feedback meetings when required.
• Identify recurring user issues and recommend product/process improvements.

Product Quality & Improvement

• Perform basic functional analysis and review product features before release.
• Identify gaps between requirements and delivered functionality.
• Work with QA and development teams to ensure issues are properly documented and resolved.
• Monitor product performance after releases and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Skills

• 2-4 years of experience in Product Analysis, Business Analysis, Product Management Support, or a similar IT/software role.
• Strong understanding of software/product development lifecycle.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into clear functional requirements.
• Experience writing user stories, acceptance criteria, BRDs, FRDs, and product documentation.
• Good knowledge of MS Excel / Google Sheets.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Ability to work effectively with developers, designers, QA, product managers, and business stakeholders.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Technical / Product Skills

• Basic understanding of web applications and software products.
• Familiarity with APIs, databases, and basic software architecture concepts will be an advantage.
• Basic SQL knowledge is preferred.
• Experience with product/project management tools such as Jira, Trello, Asana, ClickUp, or similar platforms is an advantage.
• Familiarity with tools such as Figma, Balsamiq, Postman, Google Analytics, or similar product/analytics tools will be an added advantage.
• Knowledge of AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, or similar tools for research, analysis, and productivity is preferred.

Preferred Candidate Profile

• Bachelors degree in B.Tech/B.E., BCA, MCA, BBA, MBA, or a related field.
• Experience working in an IT, software, SaaS, web development, or technology-driven organization preferred.
• Strong business understanding combined with technical aptitude.
• Good stakeholder and cross-functional coordination skills.
• Proactive approach with a strong willingness to learn.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
