1. Role Overview
GFSL is seeking a hands-on IT Manager with proven experience in a stock broking, securities, capital-markets or similar digital trading-platform business. The candidate must have practical experience supporting an environment in which algorithmic trading systems are actively deployed. The role will focus on the reliability, integration, support and day-to-day technical management of exchange connectivity and trading infrastructure, front-office dealing systems, algo-trading platforms and depository participant (DP) systems. This is a specialist capital-markets technology role, not a general IT support position. Direct, relevant industry experience and the ability to troubleshoot trading-critical systems are essential.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Exchange Infrastructure & Trading Connectivity
- Manage and support exchange-related servers, connectivity, interfaces and supporting infrastructure for applicable exchanges and segments, including NSE, BSE, MCX and their relevant trading systems.
- Monitor system availability, connectivity, performance and readiness before and during market hours; promptly investigate and resolve trading-impacting incidents.
- Coordinate with exchanges, vendors, network providers and application partners on connectivity issues, technical changes, testing, upgrades and incident resolution.
- Maintain documented escalation procedures, incident logs, system checks and recovery arrangements for critical trading infrastructure.
B. Front-office, Dealing & Algorithmic Trading Systems
- Provide hands-on technical support for dealer terminals, front-office trading applications, order-routing interfaces and related systems.
- Support algorithmic trading infrastructure and platforms that are actively used in a live trading environment. Prior experience in a firm where algo strategies are operational is mandatory.
- Understand the technical flow of orders from front-office/algo systems to the relevant exchange gateways and associated monitoring, logs, connectivity and failure points.
- Troubleshoot order-flow interruptions, application or server issues, latency/connectivity problems and system integration failures, coordinating with vendors or developers where required.
- Support controlled testing, deployment and change management for trading-system updates, ensuring appropriate checks and rollback/escalation plans.
C. DP, Back-office & System Integration
- Manage technical support and coordination for DP/depository systems and their interfaces with trading, back-office and other business applications.
- Maintain an end-to-end understanding of the firm’s key systems, dependencies, data flows, access requirements and integration points.
- Coordinate with software providers and internal teams to resolve application issues, maintain system continuity and support required upgrades or integrations.
- Ensure appropriate backup, restoration and business-continuity arrangements for critical applications and data, with recovery checks documented.
D. Infrastructure, Access & Information Security
- Oversee servers, workstations, local network, internet links, endpoint systems, user access and essential IT infrastructure supporting business operations.
- Maintain appropriate user access controls, privileged-access discipline, data confidentiality and secure handling of client and business information.
- Coordinate cybersecurity measures, vulnerability remediation, patch management and security updates as required. These are supporting responsibilities; hands-on capital-markets systems experience is the primary selection criterion.
- Maintain asset inventories, software/licence records, vendor contacts, system documentation and basic IT control records.
E. Vendor Management & Operational Support
- Act as the primary technical coordinator with exchange-related technology vendors, trading-platform providers, algo vendors, DP-system providers and other IT partners.
- Track service issues and resolution timelines, elevate recurring failures and ensure vendors provide effective technical support.
- Provide clear updates to management on incidents, root causes, system risks, planned changes and technology requirements.
- Support business expansion and new system integrations by assessing technical requirements, dependencies, implementation risks and ongoing support needs.
3. Mandatory Candidate Requirements
- Prior experience in a stock broking firm, securities business, capital-markets technology provider or a closely comparable digital trading-platform business.
- Mandatory hands-on experience in a firm where algorithmic trading systems are actively running in a live or production environment.
- Strong practical understanding of exchange trading infrastructure and connectivity, front-office/dealing terminals, algo-trading systems and DP/depository applications.
- Ability to troubleshoot trading-critical technology issues independently and coordinate effectively with specialist vendors and technical teams.
- Working knowledge of servers, operating systems, networking, application interfaces, system monitoring, backups and recovery processes.
- Strong ownership, problem-solving, communication and incident-escalation skills; able to work under time pressure during market hours.
4. Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- Degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electronics, Networking or a related discipline; equivalent relevant industry experience may also be considered.
- Relevant experience in a stock broker or trading-platform environment is strongly preferred over general corporate IT experience.
- Experience with exchange member infrastructure, order-management systems (OMS), risk-management systems (RMS), FIX/API connectivity or vendor-integrated trading platforms will be an advantage.
- Exposure to cybersecurity, patch management, disaster recovery and business-continuity controls is beneficial but secondary to the mandatory trading/algo systems experience.
5. Key Performance Expectations
- Reliable readiness and availability of critical trading systems before market opening.
- Prompt identification, escalation and resolution of trading-impacting incidents, with clear incident records and root-cause follow-up.
- Stable support for dealing terminals, live algo-trading systems, exchange connectivity and DP applications.
- Effective coordination with vendors and timely closure of critical technical issues.
- Accurate and up-to-date system documentation, access records, backup checks and recovery procedures.
6. Compensation
Budgeted compensation: 50,000+ per month, depending on relevant capital-markets experience, hands-on technical capability and suitability for the role.
7. Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a technically strong, hands-on professional who has worked within a live stock-broking or capital-markets environment and understands how exchange connectivity, dealing terminals, algorithmic trading and DP systems operate together. Candidates with only general office IT support experience, without direct algo-trading and trading-platform exposure, will not meet the core requirement.
