Position Overview
The Institutional Research VP will lead the research team, providing high-quality investment insights, sector analysis, and stock recommendations to institutional clients. The role requires strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills to enhance the firm’s research capabilities, market reputation, and improve ratings.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to idea generation for proprietary trading and institutional sales.
- Research Leadership Strategy: develop and execute a comprehensive research strategy aligned with market trends and institutional client needs; oversee the team's coverage across various sectors, ensuring timely and actionable insights; maintain high-quality research output, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
- Equity Research Analysis: conduct in-depth fundamental and macroeconomic research to generate investment ideas; review and refine financial models, valuation methodologies, and industry trends; monitor corporate earnings, policy changes, and global market movements that impact investment decisions.
- Client Engagement Presentations: present research findings to institutional clients, including fund managers, hedge funds, and FIIs; develop strong relationships with key institutional clients, understanding their research needs and preferences; represent the firm at industry conferences, investor meets, and corporate events.
- Team Management Development: lead, mentor, and develop a team of equity research analysts across multiple sectors; ensure skill enhancement through training, workshops, and knowledge sharing sessions; establish a high-performance culture within the research team.
- Collaboration with Sales Trading: work closely with the Institutional Sales and Trading teams to align research insights with client requirements; support sales efforts by providing market insights, stock calls, and thematic reports.
Qualifications
- Education: NISM Certification, MBA (Finance), CFA, CA, or equivalent.
- Experience: 5 years in equity research, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.
- Expertise: strong knowledge of financial modelling, valuation techniques, and sector‑specific trends.
- Skills: excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills; strong leadership and team management abilities; ability to build client relationships and influence decision‑making; institutional interaction with buy‑side analysts/fund managers.
- Preferred: Prior experience in sell‑side or buy‑side research covering key sectors; proven track record of successfully leading research teams and enhancing institutional business; analyst with institutional interaction experience with buy‑side analysts/fund managers.
