Job summary

Hitachi ABB Power Grids in Chennai, India, is seeking an Installation Project Manager to join the GIS Installation project management team and drive day-to-day site deployments across global GIS projects.

You will coordinate with multiple factories, manage logistics from order to site delivery, plan training, monitor KPI, ensure safety compliance, and report weekly to management while maintaining accurate timesheets and travel approvals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • 8+ years of GIS installation management or factory project management experience.
  • Experience handling materials logistics from factory to site.
  • Hands-on SAP experience for NCR, ordering and delivery tracking; liaising with logistics and supply chain.
  • Proficient with MS Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, MS Project).
  • Knowledge of site HSE requirements.
  • Ability to summarize meeting outcomes and communicate clearly.
  • Fluent English in speaking and writing.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with installations project managers at GIS factories to plan deployments of I&C engineers.
  • Manage logistics from ordering to delivery at site and coordinate with logistics and supply chain.
  • Plan training for I&C engineers and maintain their skill matrix with updates.
  • Obtain drawings and conduct kickoff meetings with INOPC engineers before site travel.
  • Improve efficiency of I&C activities and ensure initiatives are implemented at sites.
  • Lead weekly calls to monitor site HSE, hazards, PPE validity and incident closure.
  • Maintain KPIs, collect signed timesheets and organize them centrally.
  • Arrange travel approvals and visa for I&C engineers traveling to sites.
  • Adhere to Hitachi OH&S procedures and guidelines and ensure regulatory compliance.

Job description

The opportunity:

The installation project manager at INOPC will be a member of PGHV – CH 2657 team andwill contribute towards the effective functioning of Installation project management team.

The installation project manager will support the day-to-day activities of GIS Installationproject management team at factories that works on a wide range of international GISprojects.

How you'll make an impact:
  • Co-ordinate with different Installation project managers at different GIS factories to gather information on the sites forecasted for the year and prepare plan for deployment of I & C engineers to these sites to ensure consistent utilization of the I& C engineers.
  • To handle logistics of material from ordering and until delivery at site. To co-ordinatewith logistics department and supply chain.
  • Closely work with I & C departments in factories to plan for training of I & Cengineers in different GIS product variants. Maintain Skill matrix of I & C engineerswith periodic updates.
  • Proactively engage with GIS project managers and obtain relevant drawings and documents related to the site and conduct kick-off meeting with INOPC engineersbefore they start travel to site.
  • Proactively identify ways to improve efficiency of I & C activities and regularly interact with I &C engineers and the units to ensure the initiatives are implementedat the sites.
  • Conduct weekly calls with the I & C engineers who are working at site to keep track on Site HSE situations, Hazards reported, Hazards closed. Ensure adequate PPE are always available for the I & C engineers and keep track of validity of the PPE.
  • Maintain KPI for the I & C team in a central location and update and generate weekly reports and present to the management. Collect all the signed timesheets from the I& C engineers working in the site and maintain them in a central location.
  • Obtain necessary travel approval for I & C engineers and ensure they are traveling to the site with the right type of visa.
  • Safety – Understand and follow Hitachi OH&S procedures and guidelines.
  • You will be responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background:
  • You hold a bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in GIS installation management or Projectmanagement in factory.
  • Sound knowledge in handling logistics of materials from factory to site.
  • Hands on experience in working with SAP for handling NCR and material orderingand delivery tracking, hands on experience in coordinating with Logisticsdepartment and supply chain department.
  • Sound knowledge of working with MS office tools (Word, Power point, Excel and MSproject).
  • Good knowledge on site HSE requirements.
  • Ability to summarize meeting outcomes.
  • English: fluent in speaking and writing.
