Job summary

National Westminster Bank PLC in Chennai, India is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer for Database Platforms at VP level to design self-service database products for public and private cloud environments and to advance automation using IaC.

You will collaborate with product owners to create roadmaps, manage lifecycle, ensure compliance with banking requirements, and deliver scalable infrastructure that supports secure, resilient services.

Qualifications

Experience in software development or automation scripting, such as Python or Shell.
Knowledge of the software development lifecycle with infrastructure as code tooling.
Strong understanding of Agile practices and ability to craft the Release Train vision.
Experience with change management processes and risks when bulk changes across networks are implemented.
Experience with observability tools and using data to improve solutions.
Experience working with networking and security technologies in on‑prem and office environments.

What you'll do

As an Infrastructure Engineer, youll take the lead on designing intuitive, self-service database products that make all the difference to our customers, as well as our strategic targets. This is a fantastic opportunity to advance your career in a highly innovative and supportive environment.

Youll collaborate with product owners to create roadmaps and manage the lifecycle, taking customer feedback, new feature requests and production issues into consideration. As you continue to manage the selection, creation and maintenance of database-related technologies, youll ensure that our solutions comply with the banks requirements and responsibilities.

Youll also:

Identify new ways to solve problems and enhance performance using tech tools
Provide operational support for pattern or product-related issues, and contribute to the delivery of infrastructure as code solutions
Build awareness of design-thinking tools and techniques across the bank to improve products
Work with key stakeholders to ensure that we continue to deliver the best possible service

The skills you'll need

To thrive in this role, youll have experience in software development or automation scripting, such as Python or Shell. Youll be knowledgeable about the software development lifecycle, with experience of utilising modern infrastructure as code via tooling.

Well expect you to bring a good understanding of Agile working practices and toolsets, with the ability to create the vision for the Release Train, feature team, platform and domain.

In addition, youll have:

Experience in Agile working practices and toolsets with the ability to create the vision for the Release Train, feature team, platform and domain
Experience in the use of change management processes and associated risks when implementing bulk changes across the network operating 24 x7
Experience in software testing practices and tools and in using observability tools and techniques with the ability to use data, information and user sentiment to continuously improve solutions
Experience of working with networking and security technologies deployed to an on-premises datacentre and offices with a good understanding of protocols
Strong collaborative and communication skills, and the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly
