What you will actually do:

• Develop security protocols for computer hardware and software systems — firewalls, access control, and the safeguards that prevent hackers reaching private data
• Manage the firewalls, data encryption, and security-update pipeline for the programs the operation runs — the perimeter kept current, not configured once
• Monitor networks for security issues, install security software, and document every issue or breach you find — engineering with the record attached
