Walmart Global Tech India in Chennai is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for the Marketplace team to design and maintain advanced frameworks that elevate Walmart's Marketplace for sellers and channel partners. You will code, debug, optimize, and monitor performance while mentoring juniors and collaborating with product and UX/UI teams to deliver seamless integrations.

You will manage the Marketplace Platform API for third-party services, driving innovation and growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (CS/CE/SE) or related area with 4+ years in software engineering, or 6+ years of related experience.
• Strong backend with Java and Spring Boot plus frontend with ReactJS, HTML, CSS.
• Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices, and system design.
• Experience in cloud-native environments and CI/CD pipelines.

What You’ll Do

• Full Stack Development: Spend 60% of your time engaging in hands‑on coding, performing thorough code reviews, debugging, and optimizing both frontend and backend code. Ensure high code quality and adherence to best practices across the stack.
• Frontend Expertise: Utilize your proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, ReactJS, and Webpack to build responsive and dynamic user interfaces. Ensure seamless user experiences and maintain design consistency.
• Backend Expertise: Leverage your skills in Java, Spring Boot, and Kubernetes to develop robust and scalable backend services. Implement an efficient microservices architecture and ensure seamless integration with frontend applications.
• Mentoring & Learning: Provide mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth. Lead by example and encourage knowledge sharing within the team.
• Architecture & Design: Stay abreast of emerging technologies, make strategic architectural decisions, and maintain comprehensive documentation. Drive the architectural vision for both front‑end and backend systems.
• Collaboration: Work closely with cross‑functional teams to enhance user experiences and ensure seamless integration. Facilitate effective communication and collaboration across departments.
• App Health, Quality, and Performance: Prioritize application quality, respond swiftly to feedback, improve performance, and address critical issues proactively. Implement best practices for monitoring and maintaining application health.

What You Will Bring

• 12+ years of Experience with Java for backend services, including extensive experience with Spring Boot.
• Experience in front‑end technologies including JavaScript, HTML, CSS, ReactJS, and Webpack.
• Deep understanding of RESTful APIs, system design, and microservices architecture.
• Proficiency with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with containerization tools like Kubernetes.
• Experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases, as well as caching solutions.
• Over 5 years of full‑stack development experience in complex software systems.
• Experience working in platform teams or building shared tools and frameworks for other developers.
• Proven ability to write clean, testable, and maintainable code.
• Prior experience with cloud‑native technologies (GCP/Azure) and DevOps practices.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities to lead projects and mentor junior team members.
• Experience in e‑commerce or marketplace platforms.
• Contributions to open‑source projects or active involvement in internal platform evangelism.
