Job summary

State Street is seeking an Associate 2 to support daily IBOR accounting activities across investment portfolios, ensuring accurate maintenance of positions, cash, accruals, and transactions within the Investment Book of Record (IBOR).

You will collaborate with Reconciliation, Fund Accounting, Asset Maintenance, Pricing, and Technology teams to maintain data integrity, manage exceptions, and drive process improvements in a deadline-driven environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Commerce, Accounting, Economics or related discipline.
  • CA Inter, CFA Level I, MBA Finance or equivalent preferred.
  • Exposure to Excel, Power BI, SQL or reconciliation platforms advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily IBOR accounting activities and validate portfolio transactions.
  • Monitor cash movements, income accruals, corporate actions, and security events.
  • Verify accuracy of positions, cash balances, and valuation data within the IBOR platform.
  • Support day-to-day accounting production and reporting requirements.

Job description

The Associate 2

will support daily IBOR accounting activities across investment portfolios, ensuring accurate maintenance of positions, cash, accruals, and transactions within the Investment Book of Record (IBOR). The role requires strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to investigate exceptions while operating within a controlled and deadline-driven environment. The individual will work closely with Reconciliation, Fund Accounting, Asset Maintenance, Pricing, and Technology teams to ensure data integrity and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
IBOR Accounting & Processing
  • Perform daily IBOR accounting activities and validate portfolio transactions.
  • Monitor and process cash movements, income accruals, corporate actions, and security events.
  • Verify accuracy of positions, cash balances, and valuation data within the IBOR platform.
  • Support day-to-day accounting production and reporting requirements.
Exception Management
  • Investigate accounting exceptions and data integrity issues.
  • Perform root cause analysis for breaks and discrepancies.
  • Partner with internal teams to resolve operational issues within established timelines.
  • Escalate material issues and control concerns appropriately.
Reconciliation Support
  • Support cash, position, transaction, and valuation reconciliations.
  • Assist in break resolution and documentation of findings.
  • Ensure reconciliation exceptions are investigated and resolved timely.
Risk & Controls
  • Adhere to established operational controls and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate audit trails and process documentation.
  • Support internal and external audit requests as required.
  • Identify control gaps and raise process improvement opportunities.
Continuous Improvement
  • Participate in process improvement and automation initiatives.
  • Assist in documenting procedures and updating operating guidelines.
  • Contribute ideas to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
Required Experience
  • 2-4 years of experience in IBOR Accounting, Fund Accounting, Reconciliation, Middle Office Operations, or Investment Operations.
  • Basic understanding of the investment lifecycle and accounting principles.
  • Exposure to fixed income, equity, derivatives, or alternative investment products is preferred.
  • Experience working in a financial services or asset management environment preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CA Inter, CFA Level I, MBA Finance, or equivalent qualification preferred.
  • Exposure to tools such as Excel, Power BI, SQL, or reconciliation platforms is advantageous.
