Job summary

Kyndryl is hiring an IBM MQ Administrator to manage and optimize MQ environments across Development, QA, UAT and Production. You will install, configure, monitor queues, queue managers, channels and clusters, and work with ACE and DataPower effectively in EAI contexts.

You’ll develop automation scripts in Shell, Bash or Python, ensure high availability, security, and disaster recovery, and collaborate with application, infra and support teams while participating in on-call rotations.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in IBM MQ Administration.
  • Good working knowledge of IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE).
  • Experience with Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) concepts and middleware technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with IBM DataPower Gateway administration and support.
  • Fair knowledge of scripting using Shell, Bash, Python, or similar scripting languages for automation.
  • Experience in middleware monitoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and incident resolution.
  • Knowledge of Linux/Unix administration.
  • Familiarity with high availability, clustering, SSL/TLS, security, and disaster recovery concepts.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform middleware upgrades, patching, migration, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery activities.
  • Monitor system performance and proactively resolve issues to maintain optimal availability.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts for routine administrative tasks using Shell, Bash, Python, or similar scripting languages.
  • Work closely with application development, infrastructure, and support teams to resolve production issues.
  • Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and operational standards.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and operational runbooks.
  • Participate in on-call support and work in a 24x7 rotational shift environment.

The Role

Key Responsibilities:

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in IBM MQ Administration.

  • Experience with monitoring and automation tools is desirable.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or IBM Cloud).
  • Knowledge of container platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift.
