AECOM is seeking a Senior HVDC Systems Engineer to review design criteria, interfaces, and OEM documents for VSC-HVDC projects. The role includes validating control, protection and system studies, and ensuring readiness for testing and commissioning.

You will coordinate with HVAC, grid protection, SCADA and telecom teams, review environment and installation requirements, and contribute to technical risk registers and final compliance reports.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or Power Electronics.
• Minimum 12 years of experience in HVDC, FACTS, power-electronic converter systems or EHV system integration.
• Demonstrated experience with VSC-HVDC or comparable converter-based transmission systems.
• Knowledge of HVDC control, protection, system studies, converter transformers, valves and harmonic performance.
• Experience in OEM design review, testing and commissioning is preferred.

• Review system studies including load flow, short circuit, harmonic, insulation coordination and dynamic performance studies.
• Verify interfaces between converters, transformers, cooling and control systems and auxiliaries.
• Review facility layout, environmental requirements and readiness for testing/commissioning.
• Support design reviews, interface meetings, model-validation and workshops.
• Review control/protection settings, interlocks and trip matrices.
• Review factory/site testing documentation within contracted scope.
• Assist in resolving complex technical issues during installation and testing.

Key Responsibilities

• Review the overall HVDC system architecture, design criteria and technical interfaces.
• Review OEM documents for VSC converters, converter valves, converter transformers and associated auxiliaries.
• Review AC/DC filters, phase reactors, smoothing reactors, harmonic filters and reactive-power equipment.
• Review station control, pole control, valve control, protection, monitoring and sequence-of-events systems.
• Review operating modes, power-control functions, voltage and reactive-power control and system recovery philosophy.
• Review control and protection coordination between the HVDC system, AC substations, grid protection, SCADA and telecom systems.
• Review applicable system studies, including load flow, short circuit, harmonic, insulation coordination, overvoltage, dynamic-performance and electromagnetic-interference studies.
• Verify technical interfaces between converter transformers, valves, cooling systems, control systems and station auxiliaries.
• Review converter hall, valve hall, equipment-layout and environmental requirements.
• Review OEM manufacturing, installation, testing and commissioning procedures.
• Participate in design reviews, interface meetings, model-validation reviews and technical workshops.
• Review control and protection settings, logic diagrams, interlocks, trip matrices and functional specifications.
• Review factory and site testing documentation where included in the contracted scope.
• Support resolution of complex technical issues during installation, testing and system integration.
• Review readiness for subsystem testing, station integration, energization and trial operation.
• Advise the Client on HVDC performance risks, OEM deviations, design gaps and mitigation measures.
• Support review of as-built documentation, operating manuals and training requirements.

Qualifications
