Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in History, Geography, Political Science, Humanities, or related disciplines.
• Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., B.Ed., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
• Cambridge International training in Checkpoint, IGCSE, or A-level.
• 2-3 years of teaching experience in Cambridge, IB, or similar international curriculum schools.
• Experience preparing students for external assessments (e.g., IGCSE Humanities).

Responsibilities

• Teach Humanities subjects per Cambridge International Curriculum.
• Deliver enquiry-based, student-led lessons with diverse strategies.
• Prepare students for Checkpoint, IGCSE, and A-level examinations.
• Collaborate with English, Science, Economics on cross-curricular learning.
• Organise field trips, guest lectures, and experiential learning.
• Mentor students in academic competitions and clubs.

The Role

Teaching & Learning

• Teach Humanities subjects, including but not limited to History, Geography, and other related social sciences in accordance with the Cambridge International Curriculum.
• Deliver enquiry-based, student-led lessons that integrate historical thinking, spatial reasoning, socio-political context, and environmental awareness.
• Prepare students for Checkpoint, IGCSE, and A-level examinations, ensuring depth of understanding, critical analysis, and exam readiness.
• Use a variety of teaching strategies - debate, simulations, case studies, research projects, and fieldwork to make learning relevant and engaging.
• Foster a safe and respectful learning environment that promotes open dialogue, cultural understanding, and global citizenship.
• Design and adapt lesson plans, schemes of work, and interdisciplinary units aligned with Cambridge standards and Queen Elizabeth’s School, Gurugram priorities.
• Collaborate with other departments (e.g., English, Science, Economics) on cross-curricular learning opportunities such as model UN, sustainability projects, and service learning.
• Introduce current affairs into classroom discourse to deepen real-world relevance.
• Integrate digital tools (GIS, digital timelines, research databases) to enhance instruction and student enquiry.

Assessment & Progress Monitoring

• Develop formative and summative assessments that assess content mastery, critical thinking, and communication.
• Provide timely, detailed feedback to students and use assessment data to inform differentiated instruction.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and report outcomes to students, parents, and leadership as required.
• Mentor students in academic competitions, exhibitions, and extracurricular clubs such as Geography Club, Debate, or History Bees.
• Organise field trips, guest lectures, and experiential learning opportunities to contextualise learning.
• Encourage student led initiatives connected to social justice, sustainability, and cultural understanding.

Professional Engagement & School Culture

• Actively contribute to the school’s inclusive, values based culture by modelling respect, curiosity, and civic responsibility.
• Participate in professional development workshops, conferences, and curriculum planning sessions.
• Engage with parents and guardians as partners in learning through conferences, communication platforms, and learning showcases.
• Take on pastoral responsibilities and support wholeschool initiatives, events, and assemblies.

The Person

Qualifications and Experience
