Awign is seeking a Healthcare Interoperability Capability Lead to establish and drive the Interoperability COE, aligning with digital transformation goals. You will lead architecture, strategy, and delivery of standards-based solutions across payer/provider data exchanges.

You will mentor a team of interoperability experts, monitor industry standards (FHIR/HL7/EDI), and partner with product, engineering, and operations to deliver scalable, compliant data exchange capabilities.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years in healthcare technology, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role focused on data integration and interoperability.
  • Proven, successful experience in implementing FHIR-, HL7-, and EDI-based solutions in both Payer and Provider environments.
  • Exceptional, verifiable deep SME in the specified standards (FHIR, HL7, EDI, SNOMED CT, LOINC).
  • Proven record of thinking strategically (setting long-term direction) while maintaining the ability to act on the ground.

Responsibilities

  • Define and champion the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Interoperability COE, aligning capabilities with the Enterprise digital transformation goals.
  • Function as the thought leader and chief architect, translating ambiguous business requirements and market trends into clear, strategic priorities and actionable execution plans.
  • Monitor emerging industry standards (FHIR, HL7, EDI) and regulatory developments (US Cures Act, GDPR), ensuring the COE remains at the forefront of global interoperability.
  • Oversee the design, architecture, and implementation of secure, scalable, and compliant data exchange solutions for clinical, claims, and administrative data domains.
  • Lead the development and delivery of end-to-end interoperability solutions for Healthcare Payers and Providers.

Role Summary: We are seeking anaccomplished, visionary leader to establish and drive our HealthcareInteroperability Capability within our Organization. This is a pivotal roleresponsible for supporting and shaping our enterprise-wide capabilities, anddelivering innovative, standard-driven interoperability solutions.

The ideal candidatemust possess deep, verifiable Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in healthcareinteroperability standards, a proven ability to think strategically yet acthands-on, and a high comfort level in translating abstract business challengesinto concrete, scalable technical solutions. This role requires a high degreeof self-drive, initiative, and exceptional cross-functional collaborationskills.

KeyResponsibilities

  • a. Provide deep definitive Subject Matter Expertiseacross core healthcare interoperability standards and terminologies FHIR(Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources). HL7 (v2, v3, CDA),X12/EDI (Claims, Enrollment, Eligibility), and other standards/ resources
  • b. Oversee the design, architecture, and implementationof secure, scalable, and compliant data exchange solutions for clinical,claims, and administrative data domains.
3. Payer and ProviderSolution Delivery
  • a. Lead thedevelopment and delivery of end-to-end interoperability solutions specificallytailored for Healthcare Payers (e.g., claims data integration, member access)and Healthcare Providers (e.g., EHR integration, clinical data exchange).
  • b. Drive proofs ofconcept (POCs), reference architectures, and solution accelerators to rapidlydeploy standards-based solutions.
4. Collaboration & Capability Building
  • a. Serve as theprimary liaison, fostering strong collaborative relationships with productteams, engineering, operations, and external partners.
  • b. Demonstrate strongself-drive and initiative, anticipating needs, proactively resolvingroadblocks, and serving as the bridge between technical and non-technicalstakeholders.
  • c. Mentor and developa high-performing team of interoperability experts, establishing governanceframeworks, KPIs, and best practices for capability delivery and adoption.
Qualifications & Experience
Experience

15+ years in healthcare technology, with at least 5years in a senior leadership role focused on data integration andinteroperability.

Payer/Provider Experience

Proven, successful experience in implementing FHIR-,HL7-, and EDI-based solutions in both Payer and Provider environments.

Technical SME

Exceptional, verifiable deep SME in the specifiedstandards (FHIR, HL7, EDI, SNOMED CT, LOINC).

Leadership

Proven record of thinking strategically (settinglong-term direction) while maintaining the ability to act on the ground(personally driving critical-path deliverables).

Mindset

Demonstrated ability to thrive with abstract orincomplete information, rapidly structuring it to develop a clear, strategicpath forward.

Communication

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills;able to articulate complex technical and strategic concepts to executive andhighly technical audiences.

Education

Graduate or post-graduate degree in ComputerScience, Health, or a related discipline.
