Some careers have more impact than others.

If you’re looking for further opportunities to develop your career, take the next step in fulfilling your potential right here at HSBC.

The Opportunity:

The Head of Lending Technology will lead the Lending value stream within Internaitonal Wealth & Premier Banking - Wealth and Premier Solutions, responsible for the end-to-end technology estate that underpins both secured (collateral-backed) and unsecured (including card and personal loan) lending products and services.

The role will be instrumental in shaping and delivering a forward-looking technology roadmap that supports ambitious business growth globally, sponsors and accelerates the adoption and maturity of DevOps and agile practices, and ensures our lending platforms remain resilient, secure and compliant.

This role requires regular engagement with senior stakeholders across Business, Risk, Finance, Operations and Technology, as well as Audit and Regulators, and will be accountable for driving prioritisation across the portfolio and leading critical service and risk reviews.

In this role you will:
  • Own and deliver end-to-end Lending Technology services that support our multi-market lending portfolio across Asia, Europe and the Americas, covering secured (collateral-backed / securities lending) and unsecured lending products (personal loans, lines of credit, retail lending) and their full customer lifecycle.
  • Define and drive the strategic direction and roadmap for the lending technical estate (origination, decisioning, servicing, collateral/securities management, collections), including platform modernization or replacement.
  • Lead teams using agile methodologies and a DevOps approach to ensure lending products operate on a single code base where feasible and are delivered through teams adopting continuous integration and continuous delivery practices, automated testing and deployment pipelines.
  • Own core lending platform components and their secure, compliant integrations with credit bureaus, custodians, card/payment networks (Visa/Master/etc) and third‑party servicers.
  • Define and enforce architecture, data and integration standards (including model governance for scoring and pricing), ensure strong controls for credit risk, collateral valuation, fraud prevention, data privacy and regulatory reporting, and lead technical remediation for audit/regulatory findings.
  • Set and manage key metrics to track planned versus actual delivery, operational availability, time‑to‑market, quality (defect rates), run cost efficiency, model performance and customer experience measures across the lending lifecycle.
  • Balance headcount and skills mix to provide a sustainable, flexible and technically capable resource pool aligned to sub‑value‑stream delivery plans, including vendor‑ and partner‑managed teams where appropriate.
  • Drive continuous improvement in reliability, scalability, observability and security of lending services — including incident management, disaster recovery, capacity planning and platform rationalisation — while optimising technology spend and ensuring prioritisation aligns with business, risk and regulatory imperatives.
  • Proactively manage risks (including cyber security), implement control, and test control effectiveness, according to HSBC defined risk management framework.
To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:
  • Over 18 years of proven hands‑on technology delivery for large‑scale retail lending (secured and unsecured, incl. POS and personal loans).
  • Deep domain knowledge across the lending lifecycle: origination/decisioning, pricing, underwriting, servicing, collateral/securities management, collections and accounting integrations.
  • Strong architecture and platform experience: cloud‑native, microservices, AI‑first, CI/CD, automated testing, observability and platform reliability engineering.
  • Practical track record of platform modernization/migrations and delivering measurable improvements in time‑to‑market, availability, cost and quality.
  • Hands‑on DevOps and agile‑at‑scale delivery experience; able to resolve technical blockers, lead design reviews and mentor senior engineers.
  • Vendor and fintech partner selection, integration and governance experience to accelerate delivery while controlling cost and risk.
  • Commercially acumen with evidence of balancing risk vs reward and optimizing cost‑effectiveness for lending products.
  • Strong stakeholder, communication and cross‑functional leadership skills; proven ability to build and retain critical technical talent.
You’ll achieve more when you join HSBC.
