Job summary

Personnel Search Services Group seeks a seasoned Head of Legal in Mumbai to lead the organisation’s legal function, advising the MD, Promoters and senior leadership on corporate, regulatory and commercial matters.

You will manage external counsel, oversee contracts, governance, IP and employment issues, and drive risk management in a promoter-led environment to enable business growth.

Qualifications

• Law degree (LLB) and preferably additional qualification in corporate/commercial law, compliance, or business management.
• 18–25 years of legal experience with exposure in pharmaceutical, healthcare, or other regulated industries.
• Leadership experience at Head Legal/General Counsel level; managing external firms and multiple matters.
• Strong contract, regulatory, corporate governance, IP, and employment law experience.

Job Purpose

To lead the organisation’s legal function, providing strategic and commercially pragmatic counsel across corporate, commercial, regulatory, contractual, litigation and compliance matters. The role will partner closely with the MD, Promoters and senior leadership to proactively manage legal risks, strengthen governance and enable business growth.

Key Responsibilities

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Education: Law degree (LLB); additional qualifications in corporate/commercial law, compliance, or business management advantageous.
• Experience: 18–25 years of overall legal experience with significant exposure in pharmaceutical, healthcare, or other regulated industries.
• Leadership: Experience operating at Head Legal, General Counsel, Legal Director, VP Legal, or Senior Legal Counsel level; managing external legal firms and multiple legal matters simultaneously; working closely with MDs, Promoters, Boards, and senior leadership.
• Technical Expertise: Corporate and commercial contracts, litigation, regulatory matters, employment law, corporate governance, pharmaceutical regulatory and commercial legal matters, intellectual property, trademark and brand protection.
• Soft Skills: Strong negotiation, stakeholder management, communication skills; hands‑on, commercially oriented; comfortable in an entrepreneurial/promoter-led environment; ability to build processes and professionalise the legal function while remaining responsive to business needs.

Educational Qualifications And Experience

• LLB from a recognised university; additional qualification in Corporate/Commercial Law is preferred.
• 18–25 years of legal experience, preferably within the pharmaceutical/healthcare industry.
• Proven experience across corporate, commercial, regulatory, contracts, litigation and compliance.
• Strong exposure to pharma regulatory, IP/trademark and employment/labour laws.
• Experience advising Promoters, MDs and senior leadership in a business‑facing role.
• Strong negotiation, stakeholder management and commercial acumen, with the ability to operate independently in a promoter-led environment.
