Job summary

AimBig Employment Pty Ltd is seeking a senior engineering leader to drive data center EPC projects in Delhi, overseeing electrical, mechanical, civil and automation disciplines.

The role requires deep hands-on expertise in HV/MV/LV power, cooling systems, BMS/DCIM, and BIM-enabled coordination, with executive-level communication to clients and hyperscalers. On-site leadership and cross-functional collaboration are essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert oversight of HV/MV/LV power distribution systems, UPS, generators and busbar distribution.
• Lead design and review of PDU, STS and related electrical infrastructure.
• Ensure redundancy designs (N, N+1, 2N) align with availability requirements.
• Guide cooling strategy: CRAH/CRAC, in-row cooling, DLC, immersion cooling.
• Oversee BMS, DCIM integration and low-voltage systems installation.
• Coordinate BIM-driven design coordination with architects and structural engineers.
• Review single-line diagrams, P&IDs, equipment specs, and commissioning procedures.
• Lead IST and Tier Certification testing and client acceptance testing.
• Develop engineering lessons learned for continuous improvement.
• Act as the primary technical contact for hyperscalers and colocation clients.
• Support pre-sales with technical bids and responses to RFPs/RFIs.

Job Description

Technical Leadership & Strategy

• Define and own the company's technical standards, methodologies, and best practices for datacenter EPC delivery across all infrastructure disciplines.
• Drive innovation in design and construction approaches, materials, and systems to improve efficiency, resilience, and sustainability of datacenter builds.
• Establish and govern technical governance frameworks, including design review processes, engineering standards, and quality benchmarks.
• Represent the organisation in technical discussions with clients, hyperscalers, and colocation operators at the executive level.

Electrical Infrastructure

• Provide expert oversight of high- and medium-voltage power distribution systems, including utility feeds, substations, and primary switchgear.
• Lead the design and review of UPS architectures, generator sets, PDUs, static transfer switches, and busbar distribution systems.
• Ensure robust fault tolerance and redundancy design (N, N+1, 2N, 2(N+1)) aligned with client Tier and availability requirements.
• Oversee power quality analysis, earthing and bonding strategies, and lightning protection design for datacenter facilities.
• Guide energy efficiency initiatives including PUE optimisation, power monitoring systems, and compliance with green building codes.

Mechanical & Cooling Systems

• Lead the technical strategy for all datacenter cooling infrastructure including CRAH/CRAC units, in-row cooling, air economisers, chillers, and cooling towers.
• Oversee the design and commissioning of chilled water systems, hot/cold aisle containment, and liquid cooling solutions for high-density compute environments.
• Provide technical direction on HVAC design for white space, technical support areas, and ancillary buildings in compliance with ASHRAE standards.
• Evaluate and integrate emerging cooling technologies such as direct liquid cooling (DLC), immersion cooling, and rear-door heat exchangers.

Low-Voltage, Automation & Fire Systems

• Oversee the specification and integration of Building Management Systems (BMS) and Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM) platforms.
• Govern the design and installation of fire detection and suppression systems (VESDA, FM-200/Novec, pre-action sprinkler) specific to datacenter environments.
• Lead the technical delivery of structured cabling, security and access control, CCTV, public address, and other low-voltage systems within the facility.
• Ensure all automation and monitoring systems are integrated, commissioned, and tested in line with client operational requirements.

Civil, Structural & Architectural Coordination

• Collaborate closely with architects, civil, and structural engineers to ensure electromechanical systems are optimally integrated within the building design.
• Drive design coordination through BIM (Building Information Modelling) to resolve clashes and optimise routing of all MEP services.
• Provide technical input on datacenter shell & core requirements including raised floor design, structural load calculations, and façade specifications.
• Ensure that civil and architectural design intent aligns with MEP operational requirements including equipment access, maintenance corridors, and expansion provisions.

Project Delivery & Construction Oversight

• Provide technical authority during EPC project execution, supporting project directors with resolution of complex engineering challenges on-site.
• Review and approve critical design deliverables including single-line diagrams, P&IDs, equipment specifications, and commissioning procedures.
• Oversee integrated systems testing (IST), Tier certification testing, and client acceptance testing for all electromechanical systems.
• Develop and maintain engineering lessons learned, fostering a continuous improvement culture across the technical delivery teams.

Client & Stakeholder Management

• Act as the primary technical point of contact for hyperscaler and colocation clients during design, construction, and commissioning phases.
• Lead technical presentations, design review meetings, and client audits, ensuring confidence in the firm's engineering capabilities.
• Support business development by contributing to technical bids, proposals, and responses to RFPs/RFIs for major datacenter projects.

The Successful Applicant

• 20+ years in engineering and technical leadership roles within the built environment.
• Minimum 12-15 years specifically on datacenter construction and fit-out projects from the EPC contractor's perspective.
• Demonstrated delivery of large-scale datacenter campuses for hyperscale operators (e.g., AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google, Meta, Oracle) with direct client-facing technical responsibility.
• Significant experience delivering multi-tenant colocation facilities for large operators with critical systems and high-availability requirements.
• Deep hands-on expertise in HV/MV/LV power distribution, UPS, generators, power monitoring, and energy management for mission-critical environments.
• Proven track record designing and delivering large-scale chilled water, air-side economiser, and emerging liquid cooling solutions.
• Extensive experience working in collaborative design-build models with architects, structural engineers, and civil contractors on major building projects.
• Experience leading Cx, IST, and Tier Certification testing for critical datacenter infrastructure to full handover.
• Proven ability to lead and develop multidisciplinary engineering teams of 30+ engineers and technical specialists.
• Visionary technical leadership with the ability to set long-term engineering direction and inspire multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent executive communication skills - able to translate complex technical concepts for C-suite, investors, and client executives.
• Proven ability to manage multiple large-scale EPC programmes simultaneously across geographically dispersed sites.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance technical excellence with project profitability and schedule performance.
• Collaborative working style with demonstrated ability to lead design-build teams integrating architecture, civil, and MEP disciplines.
