A leading healthcare company is seeking a Head Ecommerce Digital Platforms to build a global B2B e-commerce marketplace for medical devices. Responsibilities include defining the business model, launching specialty verticals, and establishing the platform as the market leader. Ideal candidates will have 12 to 18+ years of relevant experience and a strong understanding of healthcare supply chains. The Head Ecommerce Digital Platforms will spearhead a new business unit designed to build a global B2B e-commerce platform for medical devices and allied services. The role involves defining the business model, leading technology platform development, identifying industry gaps, launching sequential specialty verticals, and establishing the platform as the market leader for surgical supplies within two years and ultimately the dominant global procurement platform for medical devices, equipment, services, and clinical solutions.
Lead the conceptualization and execution of a global B2B e-commerce marketplace for medical devices and allied healthcare services.
Develop the business model, category strategy and launch roadmap for specialty verticals with near-exhaustive product coverage.
Identify supply-chain gaps and design a sourcing ecosystem spanning rate contracts, exclusive contract manufacturing, technology transfers and OEM strategic partnerships.
Establish the platform as the #1 destination for surgical supplies in 2 years, expanding into non-surgical supplies, capital equipment, manpower services, IT/ITeS, training, outsourcing, quality enhancement, clinical trials, audits, certifications and more.
Conduct extensive market research and competitive intelligence to understand inefficiencies and build high-value verticals around them.
Build a scalable, resilient digital business that becomes the platform of choice across the global medtech ecosystem.
Collaborate with internal technology, engineering, operations and strategy teams to drive platform evolution and organisational integration.
Select and onboard the core technology platform and partners.
Ensure a robust, secure, scalable architecture suitable for global B2B medical commerce.
Work with internal/external tech teams to ensure the platform becomes the most user-friendly, seamless and intuitive transaction environment in its category.
Own the product roadmap, UX strategy, feature prioritisation.
Integrate the platform flawlessly with internal ERP and core systems for real-time operations, inventory, pricing and fulfilment.
Launch minimum 5 specialty verticals per financial year.
Achieve >90% product coverage within each specialty.
Deliver INR 300+ crore in transaction value in the first full financial year.
Achieve positive EBITDA, meeting internal hurdle rates.
Launch one new service vertical annually (e.g., manpower, audits, training, outsourcing, certifications).
Secure 100+ active client adoptions per service line.
Maintain customer retention above 50% quarter-on-quarter.
Build a structured competitive intelligence and benchmarking framework to guide decisions and track category performance.
Build a high-performance team across product, tech, operations, and category management.
Create a sustainable talent and capability flywheel to support scale.
Identify and propose new product categories where the companys engineering and manufacturing capabilities enable strategic advantage.
Contribute to innovation pipelines for new revenue streams.
12 to 18+ years of experience in E-commerce, B2B platforms, SaaS, MedTech, healthcare supply chain or digital transformation.
Proven experience in building high-scale digital platforms or marketplaces.
Strong understanding of medical devices, healthcare procurement, and supply-chain dynamics.
Demonstrated capability in leading cross-functional teams in high-growth environments.
Global exposure or multi-region platform experience is an advantage.
Reporting to the Chief Digital Officer with direct influence over product, engineering, operations, and procurement teams.
