Job summary

Cisco's EDA Tools and Libraries team supports Hardware Design across the company, empowering rapid development cycles and high-quality products. The role involves installing, configuring, and maintaining tool suites from Cadence, Synopsys, Mentor/Siemens, and Ansys, plus scripting to automate tasks and optimize Linux environments.

Prospective candidates will manage license servers (FlexLM/FlexNet), provide Tier 2/3 support, and collaborate with IT and CAD teams to scale performance on Linux

Qualifications

• 3-6 years of experience in EDA tool support or a CAD/CAE engineering environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• Strong proficiency in Linux/Unix operating systems and shell scripting.
• Experience managing FlexLM or similar license management software.
• Proficiency in using AI tools in day-to-day work, including scripting, communication, and debugging.
• Solid understanding of one or more scripting languages - Perl, Python, TCL, bash, etc.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain EDA tool suites from major vendors (e.g., Cadence, Synopsys, Mentor/Siemens, Ansys).
• Administer license servers (FlexLM/FlexNet) and monitor usage to ensure compliance and optimize license availability for global teams.
• Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for hardware engineers, resolving issues related to tool crashes, tool installation issues, and environment configurations.
• Develop and maintain scripts (Python, Tcl, Perl, or Bash) to automate repetitive tasks, integrate different tools into a unified design flow, and improve productivity.
• Work closely with IT and CAD teams to optimize tool performance on Linux-based compute clusters and manage large-scale data storage requirements.
• Open and track technical support cases with EDA vendors, advocating for bug fixes and feature enhancements required by our design teams.
• Create and maintain "How-To" guides, environment setup procedures, and best practice documentation for the engineering community.

Your Impact

Install, configure, and maintain EDA tool suites from major vendors (e.g., Cadence, Synopsys, Mentor/Siemens, Ansys).

Administer license servers (FlexLM/FlexNet) and monitor usage to ensure compliance and optimize license availability for global teams.

Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for hardware engineers, resolving issues related to tool crashes, tool installation issues, and environment configurations.

Minimum Qualifications

3-6 years of experience in EDA tool support or a CAD/CAE engineering environment.

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.

Strong proficiency in Linux/Unix operating systems and shell scripting.

Experience managing FlexLM or similar license management software.

Proficiency in using AI tools in day-to-day work, including scripting, communicatrion, and debugging.

Solid understanding of one or more scripting languages - Perl, Python, TCL, bash, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with high-performance computing (HPC) workload managers like LSF (Load Sharing Facility), Slurm or Grid Engine.

Familiarity with revision control systems such as Git, Perforce, or CVS.

Windows experience: Some Microsoft Windows administration experience would be a plus.
