Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Guidewire Application Architect based in India.

As a Guidewire Application Architect, you will lead the design, implementation, and evolution of enterprise insurance applications in a global technology environment. You will define technical architecture and integration strategies for Guidewire solutions, ensuring scalability, security, performance, and long-term maintainability. Working closely with business stakeholders, clients, architects, and development teams, you will translate complex requirements into effective technical solutions. You will oversee integrations, APIs, and web services while providing technical direction throughout the software delivery lifecycle. This role also offers the opportunity to mentor engineering teams, influence architectural standards, and drive continuous improvement across enterprise systems. If you bring deep application architecture expertise and a passion for modern insurance technology, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a collaborative, international environment.

Accountabilities

  • Application Architecture and Solution Design: Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of Guidewire solutions, including PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, and ClaimCenter, ensuring alignment with business objectives and enterprise technology standards.

  • Integration Architecture: Define and implement integration strategies for Guidewire applications, enabling seamless connectivity with existing enterprise systems through APIs, web services, and appropriate data exchange protocols.

  • Technical Leadership: Establish technical direction for assigned applications, provide architectural guidance to development teams, and oversee implementation decisions to ensure consistency, quality, and maintainability.

  • Requirements Analysis: Collaborate with clients, business partners, product stakeholders, fellow architects, developers, and IT teams to understand business needs and translate them into robust technical solutions.

  • Scalability, Security, and Performance: Ensure application architectures meet enterprise requirements for security, scalability, reliability, and performance. Identify opportunities for optimisation and implement improvements throughout the application lifecycle.

  • Enterprise Application Integration: Design solutions that integrate effectively with existing infrastructure and application environments, considering dependencies, compatibility, data flows, and operational requirements.

  • Implementation Governance: Provide architectural oversight, technical planning, implementation support, and governance for complex enterprise applications deployed across multiple locations and business units.

  • Client Engagement and Workshops: Lead technical discussions and architecture workshops with clients and stakeholders to define solution approaches, assess requirements, and communicate architectural decisions.

  • Team Mentoring and Collaboration: Guide developers and technical teams through complex implementation challenges, share architectural best practices, and encourage effective collaboration across functions.

  • Technology Innovation: Stay current with Guidewire technologies, cloud capabilities, integration frameworks, and emerging engineering practices. Evaluate relevant developments and recommend improvements to existing solutions.

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance development practices, integration patterns, application performance, and overall technology delivery through sound architectural decisions.

Requirements

  • Professional Experience: Approximately 7–15 years of overall professional experience, including at least 5 years implementing enterprise software solutions. The role is suited to an experienced architect with a proven track record of leading technical or functional workstreams on implementation projects.

  • Guidewire Expertise: Strong experience designing and implementing Guidewire solutions, particularly PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, and ClaimCenter, with the ability to define application architecture and guide implementation teams.

  • Enterprise Application Architecture: Demonstrated expertise in designing complex enterprise applications, establishing technical standards, and integrating solutions with existing systems and infrastructure.

  • Object-Oriented Design: Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and design principles, application architecture patterns, and database technologies.

  • Java and J2EE: Solid experience with Java/J2EE technologies and enterprise application development, including familiarity with multi-tier web application environments.

  • API and Integration Technologies: Experience designing and implementing APIs, web services, integration patterns, and data exchange mechanisms to support reliable communication between enterprise applications.

  • Cloud and SaaS Solutions: Experience with cloud-based enterprise platforms is valuable. Familiarity with Guidewire SaaS solutions and migration projects is an advantage.

  • Guidewire Digital and Integration: Knowledge of Guidewire Digital and the Guidewire Integration Gateway stack is preferred, along with experience using Spring and Apache Camel.

  • Programming and Configuration: Ability to perform hands‑on scripting, programming, and configuration within complex, multi‑tier application environments when required.
