Job description

Aquis Search has partnered with a fast-growing, diversified business group headquartered in Mumbai to identify a Senior Compliance Officer who will lead governance and compliance across the group’s multiple businesses. This is effectively a Group Head of Compliance role.

With ambitions to take key verticals public and expand its footprint across multiple different industries, the group is looking for a seasoned professional to inject best-in-class compliance systems and governance practices.

The Opportunity:

This is a group-level leadership role where you will:

Drive governance excellence across multiple diverse businesses — including hospitality ventures with global partners, schools, real estate, NBFC & AIF entities, and more.
Work directly with senior leadership and founders to shape IPO-readiness
Play a critical role in reimagining the compliance ecosystem - upgrading policies, systems, and reporting standards.
Step into a leadership role with autonomy and influence, acting as the face of compliance across the group.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee and streamline compliance, secretarial, and governance practices across group entities.
Lead board, committee, and shareholder meeting governance — including drafting resolutions, maintaining statutory records, and regulatory filings.
Ensure adherence to laws across domains — including Company Law, RERA, RBI & SEBI regulations.
Track compliance of investee companies with shareholder agreements.
Liaise with external legal and regulatory stakeholders including ROC, RBI, and SEBI.
Guide the compliance strategy for potential IPOs and institutional fundraising.
Mentor and elevate the existing team, including experienced CS professionals.

Candidate Profile:

20+ years of relevant experience in corporate secretarial and compliance functions.
Company Secretary is mandatory; LLB is a strong advantage.
Strong background in listed companies, preferably from promoter-driven conglomerates.
Prior IPO exposure or experience leading compliance readiness for public listing is a major plus.
Strategic thinker with high EQ and a solutions-driven mindset.
