Key Responsibilities

• On-Scene Reporting : Travel to news scenes quickly to gather accurate information, assess the situation, and deliver compelling live or pre-recorded reports.
• Live Broadcasting : Deliver clear, articulate, and engaging unscripted live hits under high-pressure conditions.
• Story Pitching : Proactively seek out original story ideas, investigate leads, and pitch relevant content to the editorial desk.
• Collaboration : Work seamlessly with videographers, producers, and the studio anchor desk to ensure high-quality broadcast segments.
• Digital Integration : Write accompanying articles, capture photos/short-form videos, and provide real-time updates for the organization’s social media and web platforms.
• Ethical Journalism : Uphold the highest standards of journalistic integrity, ensuring all reporting is fact-checked, balanced, and legally compliant.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education : Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Broadcasting, Communications, or a related field.
• Experience : [1-3+ years] of proven experience as a reporter, field journalist, or correspondent.
• On-Camera Presence : Strong vocal delivery, confident body language, and the ability to improvise naturally on live television/video.
• Communication Skills : Exceptional interviewing techniques and the ability to connect with people from all walks of life.
• Technical Knowledge : Basic understanding of field equipment (mics, lighting, cameras) and familiarity with mobile broadcasting technologies (e.g., LiveU, Dejero).

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

Note: This is not a standard desk job. The Ground Reporter role requires a high level of physical and mental stamina.

• Irregular Hours : Must be willing to work flexible schedules, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays, often on short notice.
• Travel : Frequent local travel is required; occasional regional or national travel may be necessary.
• Environment : Expect to work outdoors in various weather conditions (extreme heat, cold, rain) and occasionally in hazardous or emotionally taxing environments.
• Physicality : Ability to stand for long periods and carry lightweight reporting gear (up to 15-20 lbs) if necessary.
