Job summary

State Street Mumbai seeks an experienced Markets Operations professional to lead and transform treasury-related workflows while maintaining BAU service. You will work with front office, risk, compliance, and technology to drive automation, improve controls, and support funding and collateral transformation programs across global teams.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with front office, compliance, finance, claims, and IT to support the full trade lifecycle.
• Participate in ISO 20022, TD+1 programs and bank-wide initiatives.
• Provide trade support for Asset and Liability Management teams.
• Actively participate in the Peer Repo project and implementation.
• Monitor exception reporting and derive root causes.
• Monitor valuations of derivatives and portfolios and report exceptions.
• Investigate reconciliation variances and provide root cause analysis.
• Prepare data setup for Funding and Collateral Transformation teams.
• Oversee collateral management per policies and procedures.
• Mentor juniors, share SME knowledge, and train teammates.
• Propose workflow changes to boost productivity.
• Collaborate with Global Treasury stakeholders for operational solutions.
• Update job aids and procedures to reflect new processes.
• Support Risk Excellence culture and client service.
• Execute funds and securities transfers for repo/reverse repo.

An experienced individual for our Markets Operations who demonstrates subject matter expertise in one or more responsibilities of the operation that includes the execution of Global Treasury investment portfolio and/or liability management related workflows, supports Funding and Collateral Transformation products in line with market deadlines and internal SLAs. The individual works independently with regard to accomplishing responsibilities, strives to provide excellent client service and supports Risk Excellence culture of State Street. The individual should possess extensive knowledge and experience on securities, settlements, rates, treasury products, and related financial attributes. Will require to work closely with Business teams, Functional teams, Business Risk, Compliance and Technology teams on day-to-day basis to ensure seamless BAU. A large element of the role is transformation of the function, from operating model changes to a new technology infrastructure to reduce risk, create efficiency and improve service delivery. The role will be needed to drive the transformation whilst remaining focused on BAU so as to not compromise on service.

What You Will Be Responsible For
As an Officer you will

• Liaise with front office, compliance, finance, claims, and IT teams to support the full trade lifecycle.
• Responsible for Markets participation in programs such as ISO 20022, TD+1, and other bank wide initiatives.
• Provide Trade Support for Asset Management and Liability Management teams of Global Treasury
• Actively participate in the Peer Repo project and implementation
• Monitor exception reporting and provide necessary insight on resolution
• Monitor derivative and investment portfolio valuations and report on exceptions
• Investigate recon variances and provide root cause analysis
• Provide trade support and static data set up for Funding and Collateral Transformation team
• Monitor and perform collateral management functions in accordance with approved policies and procedures
• Oversee daily activities and help junior team members with subject matter expertise, trainings and understanding the core business operations
• Proposes and works to implement workflow changes, leading to improved productivity
• Work directly with the business and other Global Treasury stakeholders to provide information and/or operational solutions as needed
• Work proactively on updating job aids and procedures, making sure that team is adhering to the newly adopted processes
• Support the “Risk Excellence” culture within the business
• Work well with all GTO members and GT/GM stakeholders as demonstrated by being responsive to requests, striving for excellent client service
• Execute Funds & Securities Transfers for Repo/Reverse Repo activities.
• Perform or approve cash/GL processing.
• Take a leadership role in broader based projects as a subject matter expert.
• Responsible for KRI/Operating Metrics reporting and other overarching team related responsibilities.
• Focus on the control environment to drive a strong risk & control culture across the global teams to ensure processes are robust & compliant.
• Partner with Technology and partake in Markets Operations to deliver a best-in-class E2E workflow solution, removing manual touchpoints and increasing STP
• Support applicable Change the Bank and Run the Bank Projects impacting the team, from inception; providing SME support, testing and monitoring into Production.
• Ensure vendor oversight and hold them accountable to high standards of delivery. Stay abreast of all regulatory and market changes and ensure adherence and no impact to service standards as a result of these changes.
• Partner with ERM and compliance colleagues globally to ensure Markets Operations remains disciplined with respect to adherence to resiliency strategy, control assurance etc.
• Support audits and ensure adherence to operational risk and compliance policies.

What You'll Bring To The Role

• Front-to-back knowledge of the Treasury product related Confirmation, Settlement, systems, markets and instruments
• Hands-on experience in managing FICC, NSCC, Repo, reverse repo, DTC and FED settlements
• Working knowledge in Settlement/Payment department & understanding payment life cycle
• Familiarity with systems such as Markitwire, Summit, In-trader, MCH, Hogan , IBS, Bloomberg, FXALL, SWIFT

Education & Preferred Qualifications

• Graduate and above preferably in Finance
• B.COM, BBM/BBA. MBA (Finance), M.COM or any degree related to Finance or Commerce
• Good knowledge in Back-office confirmations and settlement
• Knowledge of Global Markets, custody, cash management and payment systems
• Good Communication Skills both written and oral
• 10+ years of experience in Treasury/Investment operations/Financial Services industry
