Job summary

Nuvoco Vistas Corporation (Nuvoco) seeks a Geologist for its Kutch Cement Plant in Gujarat to support safe and sustainable mining through geological exploration, resource evaluation, grade control, and mine planning support.

The role involves planning borehole logging, data management, and collaboration with Mining, Quality Control, Production, and Planning teams to optimize limestone resources and ensure regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• B.Sc./M.Sc. in Geology or Applied Geology (preference for mining-qualified candidates).
• Experience in limestone/cement mining and geological exploration is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Conduct geological mapping, exploration, sampling, and interpretation of limestone deposits.
• Identify and evaluate limestone reserves for mining operations.
• Grade control and monitoring of limestone quality per plant requirements.
• Plan and supervise drilling, borehole logging, sampling, and geological investigations.
• Prepare geological sections, mine plans, reserve/resource reports, and databases.
• Coordinate with Mining, Quality Control, Production and Planning teams for resource optimization.
• Monitor geological variations and limestone quality during mining.
• Support short- and long-term mine planning based on geological data.
• Ensure compliance with mining laws and environmental norms.
• Prepare geological reports and regulatory documentation; use GIS/ geological software for mapping and modelling.
• Support exploration activities for future resources and mine-life enhancement.
• Promote safe working practices and participate in mine safety initiatives.

GEOLOGIST

JOB DESCRIPTION

Position : Geologist

Department : Mines

Location : Kutch Cement Plant , Gujarat

Reporting : Head Mines

Role Purpose Support safe, efficient, and sustainable mining operations through geological exploration, resource evaluation, grade control, mine planning support, and quality management of limestone reserves.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct geological mapping, exploration, sampling, and interpretation of limestone deposits.
• Identify and evaluate limestone reserves and resources for mining operations.
• Carry out grade control and monitor limestone quality as per plant requirements.
• Plan and supervise drilling, borehole logging, sampling, and geological investigations.
• Prepare and maintain geological sections, mine plans, reserve/resource reports, and geological databases.
• Coordinate with Mining, Quality Control, Production, and Planning teams for optimum utilization of mineral resources.
• Monitor geological variations, overburden, interburden, and limestone quality during mining.
• Support short-term and long-term mine planning based on geological data.
• Ensure compliance with applicable mining laws, statutory requirements, and environmental norms.
• Assist in preparation of geological reports, statutory returns, and documentation for regulatory authorities.
• Use geological software/GIS tools for mapping, modelling, and interpretation of geological data.
• Support exploration activities for future mineral resources and mine-life enhancement.
• Promote safe working practices and participate in mine safety initiatives.

Qualification

B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Geology / Applied Geology. Preference may be given to candidates with relevant mining qualifications or experience.

Experience

3-6 years of relevant experience in limestone/cement mining, geological exploration, grade control, or mineral resource evaluation.
