Job summary

Citi is seeking a Generative AI Software Engineer to design and build LLM-powered AI agents and scalable AI capabilities across enterprise applications. The role collaborates with global teams to deliver production-ready AI products with strong focus on architecture, reliability, and governance.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years of enterprise software experience, proficiency in Python and JS/TS, and hands-on work with FastAPI, LangChain, and modern AI tooling.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience building enterprise-grade applications and platforms.
• Fluent in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript with end-to-end feature ownership.
• Hands-on with FastAPI, Flask, Pandas, Scikit-learn, Hugging Face, LangChain, LangGraph.
• Experience building Generative AI applications using LLMs.
• Deep understanding of RAG architectures, prompt engineering, and agent orchestration.
• Cloud-native & container orchestration with Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift.
• Relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and Snowflake for data warehousing.
• Strong engineering discipline: clean architecture, testing, docs; enterprise/regulatory environments a plus.

The AI Strategy, Strategic Partnerships and Enablement organization within Group AI, is seeking a hands-on Generative AI Software Engineer to evaluate, prototype, and scale emerging AI technologies across the firm. This role sits at the intersection of AI engineering, innovation, and enterprise adoption, partnering with startups, technology vendors, and internal stakeholders to develop cutting-edge AI capabilities and accelerate the delivery of business value.

We are seeking a Generative AI Software Engineer with expertise in modern AI technologies and a passion for building AI‑first product experiences. The role is hands-on development role to join existing engineering team based out US, UK and India. The candidate will be joining an existing global team of strategy analysts, project/product managers and engineers.

What You’ll Do

• Design and build LLM-powered AI agents that automate and streamline AI Strategy workflows end-to-end
• Build rapid proofs of concept (PoCs), prototypes, and production-ready solutions to validate emerging technologies and business use cases.
• Develop scalable APIs, microservices, and backend services that integrate AI capabilities into enterprise applications.
• Build high-quality, reliable products with user experience at the center
• Contribute to the evolution of the core AI Strategy platforms - architecture, performance, and reliability
• Maintain strong engineering discipline: clean architecture,, performance optimization, testing, and documentation
  
  

What You Bring

• 7+ years of software engineering experience building enterprise-grade applications and platforms.
• Full-Stack Development Fluency in at least two programming languages, with strong preference for Python, JavaScript/TypeScript. Ability to build and own end-to-end features across backend services and user-facing interfaces.
• Strong proficiency in Python and modern AI development frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, Pandas, Scikit-learn, Hugging Face, LangChain, and LangGraph.
• Hands-on experience building Generative AI applications using proprietary and open-weight LLMs.
• Deep understanding of RAG architectures, prompt engineering, agent orchestration, model evaluation, and AI application design patterns.
• Cloud-Native & Container Orchestration Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift. Proven ability to design and deploy scalable, resilient microservices in containerized environments.
• Data & Persistence Solid understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL platforms (MongoDB), as well as cloud data warehousing with Snowflake. Ability to design appropriate data models for AI-driven applications, including vector stores and knowledge bases.
• Engineering Discipline Strong commitment to clean architecture, test coverage, documentation, and adherence to engineering standards. Experience working in regulated or enterprise environments is a plus.
  
  

Preferred But Not Must –

• Experience with AI observability platforms, LLM evaluation frameworks, and software development agents.
• Familiarity with AI governance, model risk management, data privacy, and security requirements in regulated environments.
• Experience evaluating third-party AI platforms, startup technologies, or emerging AI solutions.
• Financial services, fintech, or other regulated-industry experience preferred.
