Job summary

Citi in Bengaluru is seeking an SVP, team lead to define and drive the AI strategy and architecture for the organization. You will lead a team of professionals, set the long-term architectural vision for Generative AI and Agentic systems, and ensure scalable and secure delivery across geographies.

The role requires deep AI expertise, strong business acumen, and exceptional stakeholder management at the executive level to champion innovation and responsible deployment of AI platforms.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in data/AI leadership within financial services
• Deep knowledge of Generative AI and LLMs; production-grade Architecting of Agentic solutions
• Ability to define architectural options and strategies for complex problems
• Excellent relationship management, communication, and presentation skills
• Strong understanding of financial services business models and analytics

The C14 SVP, team lead role is accountable for management of complex/critical/large professional disciplinary areas. Leads and directs a team of professionals. Define and drive the overall USCC AI technical strategy and architecture for the organization. The overall objective of this role is to act as the organization's technical lead on AI, leading the charge on innovation, setting long-term architectural vision, and ensuring the delivery of robust, scalable, and transformative AI platforms. Requires a comprehensive understanding of multiple areas within a function and how they interact in order to achieve the objectives of the function. Applies in-depth understanding of the business impact of technical contributions. Excellent commercial awareness is a necessity. Generally accountable for delivery of a full range of services to one or more businesses/ geographic regions. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Some external communication may be necessary. Accountable for the end results of an area. Exercises control over resources, policy formulation and planning. Primarily affects a sub-function. Involved in short- to medium-term planning of actions and resources for own area. Full management responsibility of a team or multiple teams, including management of people, budget and planning, to include performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions and terminations and budget approval.

Responsibilities

• This function covers incumbents responsible for various data activities, which include database administration, data analysis, maintenance, data quality, and database management or database architecture / design engineering
• Day-to-day focus is on resolution of complex problems or transactions, where expertise is required to interpret against policies, guidelines or processes
• Define and own the long-term architectural vision and strategy for Generative AI and Agentic systems across USCC A&P team, ensuring alignment with business goals and future growth.
• Lead the research, design, and prototyping of next-generation AI platforms and "first-of-a-kind" capabilities, establishing new patterns for the organization.
• Act as the lead architect for the most complex and critical AI initiatives, ensuring solutions are built for planetary scale, with the highest standards of reliability, security, and performance.
• Set the technical standards for AI development, including frameworks, tools, MLOps, and Model Governance, influencing teams across the organization.
• Mentor and develop senior technical talent (Lead and Senior Engineers), acting as a "force multiplier" to elevate the technical capabilities of the entire department.
• Lead and scale a multi-tiered organization of AI professionals, setting the vision, managing budget, and representing the AI function at the senior executive level.
• Serve as the primary technical advisor to senior leadership on all matters related to AI, including opportunities, risks, and competitive landscape.
• Drive a culture of innovation, experimentation, and technical excellence.
• May supervise day-to-day work of junior level employees
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience
• Experience developing and implementing analytical strategies (model and non-model based targeting, segmentation, and customer research) in the financial services industry
• Deep and authoritative knowledge of Generative AI, including LLMs, and extensive experience architecting and building complex, production-grade Agentic solutions.
• Ability to define and articulate new architectural options and strategies to solve complex business and technical problems.
• Excellent relationship management, communication, and presentation skills
• In-depth understanding of the various financial service business models, expert knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and how to apply the techniques to drive substantial business results
• Creative problem solving skills with a passion to drive analytics

Education

• Bachelors/University degree, Master’s degree preferred
