Mihira Visual Labs in Hyderabad, India is seeking a proactive Generalist Pipeline Technical Director (Pipeline TD) to lead development, testing, and support of production pipelines and tools across VFX and Animation. You will work closely with artists and supervisors to implement practical, scalable workflow improvements, ensuring robust tooling and data exchange.

The role requires strong Python programming skills and expertise with major DCCs (Maya, Houdini, Nuke, Blender).

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as Pipeline TD or Technical Director in a VFX or Animation studio.
• Strong Python programming skills.
• Proficiency with Maya, Houdini, Nuke or Blender.
• Experience developing tools using Python APIs for DCC apps.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, test and support pipeline tools across production departments.
• Collaborate with artists and production teams to identify workflow improvements.
• Provide technical support for Modeling, Rigging, Layout, Animation, FX, CFX, Lighting, Compositing, Editing.
• Occasionally work on technical assets/shots and data exchanges.
• Troubleshoot scenes, assets, publishing and rendering issues; support render farm submissions.
• Develop integrations with production management systems such as ShotGrid.
• Create technical documentation and provide user training as needed.
• Participate in pipeline planning and studio-wide workflow evolution.

About The Role

We are looking for a proactive and technically strong Generalist Pipeline Technical Director (Pipeline TD) to join our Pipeline team. You will be responsible for developing, testing, maintaining, and supporting the production workflows and tools used across all departments in our VFX and Animation pipeline.

This role requires someone who enjoys solving production challenges, working closely with artists, and building reliable tools that improve efficiency, consistency, and scalability throughout the studio.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, test and support pipeline tools used across production departments.
• Collaborate with artists, supervisors, and production teams to identify workflow improvements and implement practical solutions.
• Provide technical support for departments including Modeling, Rigging, Layout, Animation, FX, CFX, Lighting, Compositing, and Editorial.
• Occasionally work on technical aspects of Assets/Shots when required.
• Troubleshoot production issues related to scenes, assets, publishing, rendering, and data exchange.
• Support render farm submissions and rendering workflows.
• Develop and maintain integrations with production management systems such as ShotGrid or similar platforms.
• Create clear technical documentation and provide user support and training where required.
• Participate in pipeline planning and contribute to the evolution of studio-wide workflows.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience working as a Pipeline TD or Technical Director in a VFX or Animation studio.
• Strong understanding of VFX and Animation production pipelines.
• Strong Python programming skills.
• Expert knowledge of one or more major DCC applications, with working knowledge of all of the following:
• Autodesk Maya
• SideFX Houdini
• Foundry Nuke
• Blender
• Experience developing tools using the Python APIs of DCC applications.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Good understanding of Linux and Windows environments.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work directly with artists and production teams.
