Job summary

Vitality Healthcare invites applications for Consultant / Senior Consultant in General & Minimal Access Surgery. The role involves evaluating and managing elective and emergency surgical cases, performing open and laparoscopic procedures, and supervising perioperative care across OPD, OT, ICU, and IPD settings.

The candidate should have MBBS with MS in General Surgery or DNB, active medical registration, 1–5+ years post-MS/DNB experience, and exposure to laparoscopic techniques.

Qualifications

• MBBS plus MS in General Surgery or DNB in General Surgery is required.
• Active registration with State Medical Council or National Medical Commission is required.
• FMAS / FIAGES fellowship desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform elective open and laparoscopic procedures (e.g., cholecystectomy, appendectomy, hernia repairs, bowel resections).
• Handle emergency surgical calls and trauma triage in coordination with ER/ICU teams.
• Conduct OPD consultations, supervise pre- and post-operative care, and daily rounds.
• Ensure adherence to patient safety protocols and NABH/quality standards.
• Document surgical notes, discharge summaries, and informed consent accurately.

Job Summary

Responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and providing comprehensive surgical management for elective and emergency surgical conditions. Performs routine open surgical procedures and advanced minimally invasive (laparoscopic) interventions, overseeing patient care across OPD, OT, ICU, and IPD settings.

Key Responsibilities

• Surgical Interventions: Perform elective and emergency open and laparoscopic procedures (e.g., cholecystectomy, appendectomy, hernia repairs, bowel resections, emergency laparotomies, and minor surgical procedures).
• Clinical Management: Conduct OPD consultations, assess surgical candidates, direct pre-operative preparation, oversee IPD care, daily rounds, and post-operative management.
• Emergency & Trauma Management: Handle emergency surgical calls, acute abdomen cases, and surgical trauma triage in coordination with the ER and ICU teams.
• Pre & Post-operative Safety: Ensure patient safety protocols, surgical site infection control, and sterile procedures are followed in alignment with hospital NABH/quality standards.
• Documentation & Compliance: Complete surgical logbooks, operation notes, discharge summaries, and informed consent documentation accurately.

Key Requirements & Qualifications

• Education: MBBS + MS in General Surgery / DNB in General Surgery (FMAS / FIAGES fellowship desirable)
• Registration: Active State Medical Council / National Medical Commission (NMC) registration
• Experience: 1 to 5+ years post-MS/DNB with hands-on exposure to basic and advanced laparoscopic procedures
• Core Skills: Laparoscopic surgical skills, emergency surgical triage, intra-operative crisis management, patient counseling, and post-op wound care
