GlobalLogic is seeking a Principal Cloud Data Engineer / Data Architect to lead the design and execution of scalable GCP data architectures for global clients. You will own data lakehouse solutions, governance, and end-to-end automation while guiding cloud engineers and cross-functional teams.

The role requires 8+ years in cloud architecture with a strong GCP focus, certifications, and proven leadership in enterprise projects. Excellent communication and a startup-driven mindset are valued.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on experience in cloud architecture, migration, strategy, and engineering (GCP focused).
• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or related field; Master’s preferred.
• Technical lead experience managing enterprise projects in fast-paced environments.
• Deep hands-on experience building scalable ETL pipelines using Apache Beam and Airflow.
• Broad knowledge of AWS/Azure with strong GCP expertise.
• Certifications: active GCP certs preferred.
• Experience with enterprise data, reporting, and Google Analytics data integration in GCP.
• Strong cost optimization and cloud delivery model skills.
• Excellent communication, documentation and presentation abilities.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a high-performing Principal Cloud Data Engineer / Data Architect to lead the design, execution, and modern transformation of our Google Cloud Platform (GCP) data architecture. In this role, you will act as a core technical leader—bridging the gap between business requirements and cutting-edge cloud solutioning.

You will take full ownership of designing scalable data pipelines, provisioning data lakehouse environments, and implementing robust data governance and security frameworks for global enterprise clients. Operating in a fast-paced, fluid environment, you will serve as the primary technical escalation point for cloud engineers, collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, and continuously drive operational excellence through end-to-end automation.

Requirements

• Experience & Education:
• 8+ years of hands-on experience in cloud architecture, migration, strategy, and engineering (with deep specialization in GCP).
• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or related field (Computer Science, Data Engineering, STEM) or equivalent practical experience. A Master’s degree is a plus.
• Demonstrated track record as a Technical Lead managing enterprise projects across fluid, fast-paced environments.
• Technical Core Competencies:
• Deep hands‑on experience building scalable ETL pipelines using Apache Beam and Airflow.
• Broad knowledge of major cloud vendors (AWS/Azure) paired with authoritative expertise in GCP.
• Hands‑on experience managing cloud databases, data lakes, and data warehouses.
• Certifications & Domain Knowledge:
• Active GCP Certifications (Professional Cloud Architect, Professional Data Engineer, or Cloud Engineer) are highly preferred.
• Experience working with enterprise-level media data, reporting, and Google Analytics data integration within GCP is strongly desired.
• Strong mastery of cost‑effective cloud delivery models and infrastructure optimization.
• Soft Skills & Mindset:
• Exceptional problem-solving, documentation, communication, and presentation skills (ability to translate technical complexities for non‑technical audiences).
• High level of personal accountability and a startup-oriented drive to help build high‑performing environments from the ground up.

Job responsibilities

• Architectural Leadership & Solutioning:
• Liaise with key business stakeholders to translate customer requirements into modern, scalable production solutions.
• Solution and facilitate project deliverables related to GCP data lakehouses and enterprise data warehousing.
• Present core architectural concepts, roadmaps, and technical proposals clearly to internal teams and executive client stakeholders.
• Lead proof‑of‑concepts (POCs) for newly released Google Cloud technologies and integrate third‑party data systems.
• Lead the design and implementation of modern data processing pipelines using Dataplex, Data Fusion, Data Catalog, Cloud Functions, and API integrations.
• Oversee, manage, and provision cloud solution infrastructure, databases, and automated ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Work in a DevOps capacity with a strong commitment to automated deployments, operational reliability, and platform enhancement.
• Governance, Security & Standards:
• Govern all platform architectures to ensure strict adherence to cloud security, data privacy, and compliance standards.
• Define and optimize operational workflows and data governance processes across data lakehouse environments.
• Serve as the core escalation point for Cloud Engineers, reviewing code and elevating overall platform engineering practices.
• Manage large, multi‑region cloud projects for global clients while delivering tight‑deadline implementations both independently and collaboratively.
• Educate internal consulting and technical teams on existing and emerging GCP features and capabilities.
